    Training Hygene Tips

Post up any tips you got on keeping clean and healthy and keeping your equipment clean.

Obviously 1 is take a shower asap after training and treat any open wounds you may have gotten.

Prevent Gloves from smelling: If you train and have wondered why your gloves smell like ass even though you wash your hands before you put them on, try this.

    - Make sure your wraps are clean. Have 2-3 Pairs in a rotation. Try to wash your wraps as often as possible to rule that out.

Sometimes you have to hold pads for fellow partners and the pads at the gym have accumulated disgusting inside them and you have no choice to put your gloves back on after you switch.

    - Best way to counter this is to use Sanitary wipes on the inside of your gloves asap after training. just wipe all around the inside as best as you can. It will ensure no bacteria can thrive and generate odor as well as deodorizing.
    - Again your best friend will be the sanitary wipe. Use it on the outside of your gear as well to get rid of the nasty that builds up from punching people in the face.

We all know guys will be guys but that doesnt mean you have to settle for smelling like trash and your gearing smelling like trash. You'll stay healthy by not contracting anything like ringworm or staph or atleast decrease your chances which will keep you training healthy and hard. You gear's life span will also increase because sweat and body grease wont crust and degrade it. Hope these tips help. Happy training.

    EDIT: Mouthpiece:
-i like to let it soak for a bit in listerine/mouthwash for a bit, rinse then head to the gym. You can rest assure that its bacteria free as long as the case is clean and when you pop i in it tastes minty.

    Thanks !!! Good tips.

I caught a fungi infection under my armpits when i 1st joined my gym.Armpits were on fire and red raw,it was disgusting.

Had to take antibiotics for 2 weeks and no gym allowed.

I now use my own clean towel when ever using equipment like benches/mats etc.

When i first joined the boxing gym i just used to use equipment with no towel.

    (bad move)

I actually have some sort of infection right now that I got from a fight about 10 days ago. Got a little nick on my eyelid (very small, didn't even bleed. I only noticed it when I was in the shower afterword becasue it was stinging as I got shampoo in it) and I guess there was some bacteria or something on the gloves. Couple days later my eyes were red both on the eyeball and the skin around them, and oozing puss. The one that had the cut was all swollen up.

Also have a few pimple like things in places I would never get pimples like my stomach, ribs etc. Got some antibiotics from doctor and it's clearing up, my eye is almost better but it was scary ****.

Next time I fight I'm going to go to the people working the glove table and tell them about it and ask them to make sure they thouroughly clean the gloves after each fight. They always have cleaning solution but I'm sure they usually just give it a quick spray and wipe the sweat off.

I'm also going to get my coach to email our sanctioning body in hopes that they will send out a message to all clubs telling them to make sure they are properly cleaning the gloves at shows.

To get the piss like smell out of your sweaty clothing:

-Fill up the washer with water and soap and stinky clothes
-Pour in 2-3 cups of white vinegar
-Let it agitate for a minute to get it nice and soapy
-Turn off washer and let soak for 30-45 minutes
-Turn it back on and let it was normally

The piss like smell is caused by bacteria. The acididty of the vinegar makes bacteria unable to survive in your clothes.

the pimples sound like staph but ya never know. doc should have diagnosed it staph if it was staph. if it was and you didnt feel really bad from it then your lucky. staph can take up to a year sometimes to fully recover from because of misdiagnose and just in general because you only take antibiotics for it and wait it out. its even worse if its caught late. all fighting gyms should be cleaned up to 3+ times a day for health and sanitary reasons to prevent contraction of such illnesses.

ps look what happened to kelly pavlik and forrest griffin, an mma fighter, had staph for like a year because it was misdiagnosed and he was taking the wrong **** for it and when he finally switched to the right stuff it was so late that it took months to recover from.
