If you're talking about how long a professional boxer's training camp is, it's usually 6-8 weeks for the top boxers.

Didn't Hatton do 12 weeks for the Pacquiao fight?

6-12 weeks, the longer you train means you have more weight to lose....

top pros- 8-12 weeks maybe longer
amateur - most fight when they are told, so can have less than a week to about 2 months

Pros will stay in the gym to just stay in shape(2-3 days a week), and when a bout is coming up they will head to training camp for a certain period of time(Depending on the current condition of the fighter, and the upcoming bout, usually between 6-10 weeks).

Amatures stay in the gym, stay in shape, and are almost in a year round training camp. With constant sparring and pushing themselfs harder and harder, they stay ready for a fight. Most of the top amatures would be ready to fight tonight if need be.

i came in the gym on 1/1/09 on some new years resolution type stuff... weighing 180 by june i had my first fight at 152, august i was at 141, now i have bouts at 135 catch weights... i expect to be a open class fighter at 132 by the end of the year... they say there is some big tourneys comming up thatll lead to the nationals (im not 100% sure ill post a thread about it i guess)... i was at one point 210 lbs im only 5feet 6 and some change lol... i used to do a lot of drugs but im clean and focused now... im getting to the nationals.. everything else is in the way...

im not trying to brag or anything cuz this is a very small accomplishment to my goals and dreams... but i guess to answer ur question... its all about how u wanna do it... im pretty sure theres people out there that could do what i did in half the time... its been 10 months and im still not where i wanna be as far as "fighting shape"... but if my coach hasa a bout for me tomorrow, im ready to go... u dig?
