  • Nightclubs and alcohol effect on

Ok guys, first of all, I would like to clarify my situation, I'm not a boxer, I love to watch the sweet science, but I practice track and field. I'm one of Quebec fastest runner on 100 and 200 meters and Top 10 Canada wide for my age range..

I never had a problem of drinking, because I wasn't 18 years old, I was sober for all my summer season. Now that I'm 18, I can go to nightclubs and drink beer ''legally'', do you think it can affect my performance, let's say I go to club one time per week or two weeks and drink water or if I drink beer once a month??

    Thanks for your advice gentlemen

The day after you drink and try to practice it won't be the same unless the alcohol is all out of you. You won't be fully balanced as you would when not drinking. Reason I don't drink if I have to go to boxing later or the next day.

If you want to have optimal performance...dont put anything bad in your body. Not even second hand smoke found in clubs. I know its a drag but your boxing career will be as serous as you make it. Some is out there doing all they can to destroy you in the ring. I recommend you do the same. Thats My opinion! If you chose to get in them ropes!

Only thinking of this topic the other day....
Lets say for instance you go out and drink 8 pints on a Saturday nite.
That is like 4 litres of pure liquid **** in your body, drank in the space of like 5 hours!!!!!
No wonder i do be so ****ed for a day or 2 after, sure I barely drink 4litres of WATER a DAY.... Go Figure
Of the drink for the next month or so.. FACT

Never touch anything involving drugs or smoking in my entire life and that's not a problem for me. I will never drink before a week before a competittion.

I mean if I go clubbing drinking water,is it a problem for my performances??

not too much...Personally Im not in to the club scene. Nothing good really come out of it. But to your question...no not too much, but for me personally I dont like smoke and dont want second hand smoke in my lungs. IMO. Plenty of people do it and are fine. I just prefer not to because i dont want NOTHING to be a factor long term or short with my performance. Its good you never touch the ****. Dont. Alcohol is Sugar and its not good for you. Red wine is cool in moderation.

clubbing on water? are you serious..
its sort of self explanatory - if you go clubbing on water of course it wont harm you, however as pac said theres still second hand smoke - but you will find that anywhere, clubs dont degenerate you physically by any other means?

I don't think it will affect you too much. It's obviously better to stay away from that, but you can manage with it. In any case, if you see it is starting to affect your performances on the track, you can always stop. It's not like you're going to get ****faced every night, smoke 3 packs everytime you're going out.

To put things into perspective, 2 weeks ago I went drinking with friends and had a good amount of alcohol. The next day I had a 3 hour soccer tournament and played better than I used to play when I didn't drink at all. I didn't feel muggy or anything.

That being said, I'm not promoting alcohol by any means. But I think that if you drink 1 beer a month, you shouldn't really see a difference in your performance, unless your tolerance is really low and you get drunk from one beer, and get a hangover the next morning (which I highly doubt).

See how it works for you. You're the only one that knows what's best for your body and mind.
