Alternative ways to hang a heavy bag

Anyone got any ideas on alternative ways to hang a heavy bag?

I have this:



But the chain the bag came with is LONG, I have managed to hang it a lot closer to the upper bolt of the stand, but the excess chain is always getting in the way, and the bag twists and turns and eventually the bolt spins around and the bag falls.

Hanging the bag from the ceiling is out of the question. I was thinking of getting four 'S' hooks and attaching those to the bag and the bolt and crimping them at both ends...but I don't know if that will actually work.

Anyone have to deal with somethin similar?

That's one reason I never liked those stands - but I do also, understand why some have no choice but to use them. From what you described - you may have no other option but to shorten all the connecting chains {depending on how they're connected to the post}.

See if you can improvise a new connection that will both hang the bag and shorten the chains at the same time using EYE HOOKS.

I did something simular because the chains were too long on my ceiling-hung bag - So I figured out a way to shorten the chain {without cutting them} and also hang the bag in a stable way.
