  • Improvement in Boxing?

    Hi,
I started boxing seriously this year. Before i did Kickboxing, MMA and i found out that i had better hands than the guys i sparred with. I decided to box in March but i feel that my power is very suspect(feather fisted?) and that my combos are pretty good. I know my basics and i feel scared that i won't be able to improve a lot and to get to the level i want to reach.

I'm 20 y old and i would like to be a good amateur and fight as a pro around my 25, 26. Is that still possible or is it already said and done?
How many months/years of practice do you need to improve a lot and to get to the "next level"? I train normally 3 hours a day Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and 1 hour Monday. I go back to training tomorrow. I stopped in June because my gym was closed.

FEAR, will cripple your actions more than anything else - Step#1 get rid and release yourself of fear ... nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I would also suggest, that you never gauge your actions and future, based on someone else's.

With hard work & dedication, you can accomplish your goals - But if you're going to invite failure before you even begin, then what's the use???

Set a course, plan your actions, and get to work. Don't even think about what you cannot do today ... tomorrow hasn't been written ... so, make it happen Dude!!!!

Also, if you're really serious about becoming a PROFESSIONAL - build a home gym - if you have the space {Its not that expensive}. Start working on technique on a daily basis and perfect your mechanic's.

When I used to Box as a amateur - The first thing I was told was "It all starts with you, and it all ends with you". Best advice I ever received.
