Yes definitely more than I should have but it was my first spar and I learnt my lesson.

I definitely took more punches than I should have didn’t defend myself enough. Done 4 x 2 minute rounds with someone that has spared a lot and had one amateur fight. He did catch me with a left hook which made my ear ring.

It all comes down to how bad do you want it and what are you willing to give up to get it.

Find a book called Beyond the Ring by Lyle Fitzsimmons (I believe that he wrote it).

Besides a good look at the history of the sport, it is an in depth look in to boxing and the brain.

Amateur boxing was great and I recommend it to any young male with true grit.

The pro game is a meat grinder but was still great.

Look in to that book doe, great stuff is in it.

How bad do you want it?

I am not planning to make a career out of it but have my heart set on doing this one fight for charity and I have never had motivation like it before. Getting up at 6am every day running, swimming, boxing etc the organisers have said I can’t do the December event now but I can do the March event.

I have not had any headaches. After the sparring my ear was ringing from a left hook I caught. Hearing was muffled for couple of days and now the only thing I have noticed is that if I am looking at laptop, phone or TV and things are moving quick then my eyes loose focus. But that seems to be improving everyday. Got checked by Doctor and they think just very mild concussion.

As for anything related to a concussion you would most likely know because you would have probably been taking quite a handful shots and felt like $***. So unless that happened you should be good to go.

Also just for reassurance anytime you go a good while without sparring once you start back up it takes a few days to get used to it again from a physical standpoint.
Yer I think I went too hard too quick for my first spar. 4 x 2 minute rounds with someone who had done a lot of sparring and had one amateur fight. I took more shots than I should have.

I plan to rest, recover fully and then try again.

Simply more time to get your body right, use that time wisely.

What makes cowards of you, and everybody in your corner, on fight night?

That can certainly give you a headache the next day

You got your ear drum busted in your first sparring session, smh.

The laptop thing, jesus man you're not cut out for this. How old are you?

This is a great way to relieve tensions but if you are just doing this like on the beginner level then I recommend you do some light sparring not go for the high one. There are many benefits to competing with BJJ. Best of Luck.
