Why are most boxing gyms focused more on fitness than boxing ?

It’s hard to find a gym these days where you can sparr and learn boxing skills

Because they don't know how to train fighters, essentially because they just don't know boxing.

Boxing fitness became a fad and all of these boxing training places popped up.

If nobody is getting punched in the face than you are dealing with a boxing fitness place, not a boxing gym.

True boxing gyms and even more so true boxing trainers, who know wtf they are talking about, are a rare breed and are very tough to find today.

And they're becoming even harder to find as true trainers simply die off.

True boxing knowledge is very hard to find these days.............Rockin'

A lot of them are not run by real boxing people. You have to find one where it's a real boxing gym, to teach boxing, and not just a gym to use boxing to get in shape.

        - - Fitness provides the lucre. 99.99% of their customers could care less about getting their noses or family ***els rearranged.

If you are worried about your beak getting smashed than this sport is not for you, 'cause it's gonna get smashed.

And I have never heard of a guy being seriously injured by a shot to his family ***els.

These things, you would find, are the least of your worries if you decide to fight as a pro.

The amateurs are nothing compared to the pros when it comes to damage doe.

Still, it is in no way easy in the amateurs.

          Not like the pros doe.

It’s easier to get a guy in shape than it is to get him to bring his legs with him when he punches .
The gym has to make money and there is a lot
more cash in fitness than training fighters from the ground up.

Boxercise classes (Dana White style) have their place. Not everybody is interested in going through the hard work required to be a real fighter.

But for actual, competitive boxing coaching you have to go to an actual boxing gym.

It's sad that they are rarer than the fitness places. But fighters a rare breed anyway.
