So about a month ago I was at a friends house and he had a couple pairs of boxing gloves. I've always been a boxing fan, but never actually fought. We sparred for a bit and I realized that I really enjoyed the concept of fighting. I realize that without any type of training I wasn't really boxing, but it was fun regardless. Since then, I've play-fought with a few other friends who are also interested in boxing. I want to legitimately get involved with the sport.
The problem is, the extent of my training materials is watching professional fights. I live in Blacksburg, VA where there is no local gym and I am unable to go to my college's boxing club due to scheduling issues. I am a senior in college and will be moving after graduation to a larger area where there is a gym available, but I'd like to get a head-start.
So what should I do to prepare? I've been weight training MWF and doing cardio every day of the week so that I am not puking my guts out after 3 minutes of boxing. I own a pair of 16oz gloves so I practice throwing punches(jabs, hooks, straights, uppercuts) and trying to make them feel more natural.
However, after that...I'm not sure where to go. What would ya'll recommend for someone who has no access to a gym or trainer?
