Not necessarily. The one time I've ever been 'hurt' by a punch I had ringing in my ears. But you can also just get hit right on the ear and get ringing in them without being dazed. Just the force of the punch puts alot of pressure on your eardrum.

A few slashing lefts, to blind the eyes, then a firm right handed blow to the gut always brings a man down. Why, back in nineteen ****ety six, i boxed 68 bareknuckled rounds with Young ****eye in a muddy field in the pouring rain. He gave me a jolly good whacking for the first 56 rounds, dropping me 40 times, but i came roaring back in the 57th and then we boxed on even terms for 10 rounds, until in the 68th round of a brutal bout, I delivered a peach of a right to his gut that brought the tough **** eyed stable hand to his knees, forcing a KO victory.
