Are there a higher percentage of Cuban southpaws? Just feels that way. What about in baseball?

The Cuban boxing style coming from a southpaw stance must be so, so hard to deal with.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubans deliberately selected left handers to train in order to increase their Olympic medal chances.

Right. I read that %10 of the population is left handed but %25 of mlb pitchers are lefty. The similarities in boxing have to be there. You’re so used to everything being set up and coming from the orthodox side that you just don’t get the same amount of looks and hours against a lefty. Switch hitters and switch boxers have always fascinated me. Don’t see it often so it’s of note and kind of fun. I love a south paw straight left hand more than any other punch. Was a big Corrie Sanders fan, may he Rest In Peace. You’re right, the Cubans have a system, a style. It’s not a large place. It’s government backed sports. Grabbing as many lefties and plugging them in early just makes sense to add an extra wrinkle. It’s like they build them from scratch. Not out scouting.
