    Dempsey punching technique

So I'm reading Jack Dempsey's book, and yea it'd fantastic and everything - but at this point I'm pretty confused. His descriptions of straight punches, he says MUST be thrown straight out, with the fist never ever rotating to where the palm would be facing down.

This makes me feel like I'm throwing like this:

Am I interpreting this book wrong? Anyone?

That's actually how my trainer has us throwing punches, putting the twist adds a bit of whip and makes them more likely to cut your opponant, but if you mis-time it you lose alot on the punches.

what is the name of the book?

i think the technique of punching in the times of Dempsey is much different as whe have it now, just my opinion after looking some of his fights

dempsey used a few different punching techs.

they all naturally used the body weight in a pretty effective way. i consider his book one of boxing's finest on actual punch technique.

i have read better, but not on boxing.

his straight punch uses dropping step. u are not doing it naturally or correctly if u feel stiff.

he has you punching the head like that when your punching the body you turn your wrist. essentially the way everybody punches is the way he has you punching the body. the way your thinking is only for the head. I think
