simply put if you take in more calories than you burn you will gain weight and if you burn more calories than you take in you will gain weight. So basically just go a week and write down everything you have eaten and all the excercise you have down. Then you can see what you can either eliminate from your deit or add to it. Also to gain weight( muscle mass) You should eat 5 smaller meals a day that are high in protien rather than 3 big meals a day.
