  • Back from 1st day of boxing training.

    * All of us do a 2 minute warmup on the spot lead by some fitness instructor.

    * Then you can either go for a jog lead by a trainer or stick with the other trainer and instructor and do skipping rope about 3 times 2 minutes each, and if your tired you can run on the spot

pushups and situps 20 times each in between the skipping rope sections.

    * I was taken in the ring for a quick 1 to 1 and learn the basics of jabbing and keeping the guard up since it was my first day, only lasted about 5 mins.

    * The killer circuit, there are about 15 labels on the wall saying different excersise, 30 seconds each and move onto the next, a killer...

    * Even more of a killer since we had a 2 minute rest and went straight back into the circuit

    * You can then spar or just hit the bags, the other trainer took me and another new starter outside in the car park and taught us the stance, movement, basic hands up, chin down and such.

we walked along a line going back and forth, then the other times jab, parry then combos, and finally movement + combos and parry

we will learn about the other punches next time just the foundations.

    - halfway in between he asked if I just wanted to hit the bags because I was pretty good at this stuff, but I stayed to learn the groundwork.

Hit the bag another 5 mins and it was home time.

starts at 7:00pm - 8:30pm on tuesdays, thursdays and earlier time on sundays.

Trainers were awesome, very good time there, everyone was friendly.

Actually before I done the 1 to 1, we done 2 minute rounds on bags and kept alternating between each one, 30 seconds rest.

There were only about 5 of use plus instructor since everyone else went on the jog.

done it about 4 times, then got called in.

I remember my first session like everyone else. I got asked to do footwork drills along lines on the floor with the simple 1-2s. Me and my friend joined same night and got asked to spar first night because we asked to. We looked badd. Fun but it was a street fight. Few weeks later got asked to spar someone else and he destroyed us hahaha. Fun times though.

          Tip: - get running.

            Nice

Wish I had a gym to go to like that. You should post some videos of your sparring sessions in a few months.

              Second Training session.

Jesus This was 3 times as hard as last Thursdays I just got back over an hour ago and had a bath.

              Done a quick warmup

To begin with all of us went outside and started our run which I didn't partake in on Thrusday but everyone went this time so there wasn't any reason not to this time (So I never ran the path before and heard it was 3 miles long (3.2 to be precise) So I stuck with the trainer who was in the middle of the 2 groups, ran it talked some boxing.

Only a few months ago the longest I ran was 1.8 miles and that was with some stopping but this time around I done it without even stopping, which I thought was awesome I sprinted to the starting which was the gym at the end as well.

After that we all had a 3 min rest and did the circuit as described in the 1st post, we done that twice.

Then we moved onto pad work and since I'm a beginning I done some with another boxer who was southpaw and done it twice with him, 3 minutes each, he wasn't the best of trainers.

Then done 2 more 3 minutes with the trainer from last week (Who was clear and precise and knew what I achieved last week so that was awesome)

Another Circuit! (Only once this time around)

Then some more excersises and then a cooldown.

              ---

Arms weren't nackered and I feel great after the 1 hour, 30 minute session.

I persume its Sparring Thrusdays and Tuesdays its conditioning and such.

                Third day of boxing training

                First we done the exercises/warmup

Didn't start off for a run this time another Trainer who I haven't acquainted with yet took me and about another 5 people and told us to do jump rope for 9 minutes.

Afterwards me and someone else went in the ring with the trainer while about another 4 people the hit bags and all the others went for the 3.2 mile run.

Just went over the footwork, stance movement and everything all the advance movements and such (How to hold fists, keeping distance between each foot)

By the time we finished that the guys on the run were back and it was padwork time but another Trainer from the other days took me and another 3 people outside for some drills.

I gotta say it was awesome.

we paired up and took turns doing jabs and parrys, switched partners done the same and such for a while.

then we added movement in the parrys and jabs, then we done some blocking with the shoulder and such.

then we done some competative stuff with scoring jabs to the shoulder, jabs only done this a number of times switching partners and such.

                the other guys were

                * Some big unfit dude nearly my height but weight quite a bit
                * Some tall guy who was the tallest out of us lot
                * Some guy the same height as me who was acting like Roy Jones but it was fun

They were all Orthodox I'm southpaw.

The we done some body sparring with jabs only then we mixed in only throwing 1 straight from the power hand, all good stuff.

Pretty funny the guy that was like Jones/Naseem Hamed kept running like the whole parking lot was a football field he didn't really step forward it was great.

then I had the big guy who couldn't punch right and cracked me on the nose it stun me because i wasn't expecting a headshot in the nose from body sparring but after 10 seconds it was easy work he couldn't stop my 1-2 it was pretty funny.

The tall guy who I didn't body spar with couldn't keep his hands up and the trainer said he will get some duck tape next time because he kept throwing his jab like you would to pull a arrow in a bow.

we went back inside with everyone else there and done 1 circuit.

all and all it was great session today.

I want to compete, it's only 3rd session but I'll move ahead much quicker soon.

The guy asked me my weight today and what I want to fight at and knows I'm quite good, so we'll see in the coming weeks.
