    Hernia or lymph gland?

    Hi Folks,

A couple of days ago I noticed a hard lump beneath my skin right at the top of my right leg right in the slit between it and the groin. It feels about the size of a baked bean or a large pea and the skin moves wierdly over it.

I got an appointment at the doctors the next day and she thinks that it is either the start of a femeral (probably spelt wrong) hernia or a swollen lymph gland. I've been placed on the register to have this ultrasounded in 9-10 weeks but wondered if anyone else has had something like this and how the treatment went.

Obviously my training involves a fair bit of weights, running, boxing training and situps......(I haven't sparred in donkeys years though). So its not a suprise that a hernia might be on the cards, but if anyone has had a similar case it would be spot on to hear from you.

    Cheers

I had the same thing ended up wrapping it up tightly with a rubber band and slicing it off with a razor blade. i then tightly held a dollar bill on top of it and held a red hot quarter on it that had been sitting on top of a kero heater. bout 5 seconds of holding the quarter there the bleeding stopped and about a month latter there was just a slightly discolored scar.

havnt had any problems since and that was like 3 or 4 years ago

WOW! Respect and I'm glad you're ok now but what if your lymph gland was cancerous? Obviously it wasn't or you'd have shown further symptoms years ago, but when you cut a cancer you open up a whole realm of possibilities for it to spread.

Please, as a fellow boxing fan dont attempt anything quite like that again, go to the docs. ***** are one thing but capping glands!!!!

Yea I'd be suprised if it wasn't exercise related. That said there are a number of athletes, boxers and fitness fanatics on this forum, I'm guessing a few more would surely have had similar conditions.

See a doctor. It could be a hernia from the lifting, or it could be a swollen lymph node. Swollen lymph nodes can be caused by all sorts of things, but you should check it out.

Yeah, dont follow the guy's advice to cut it out. That's probably the most ****** thing I have ever read.

You may be right, but its not "fo sho." Just like people get swollen lymph nodes under their jaw when they get sick, the lymph nodes in the groin area can swell for all sorts of reasons. Catching an STD can cause it as well.

Solution? More time making a dr's appointment, and less time asking experts on a boxing forum.
