Does running in the morning improve fitness or is it just for mega fast metalobism?

No it won't. Low reps + heavy weight = mainly strength, power, explosiveness. Higher reps + lower weight = mostly mass/hypertrophy. Please don't spread this false information, lots of boxers apparently are reluctant enough to lift as it is.

    Also, eat before you run.

You know i have read all the stuff and it all tells you to eat but the way I have got ripped before was wait till i felt starving then running 10mile on an empty stomach pumped with a couple of hundered mils of caffeine.Hard work but it worked then straight into core after run

Exercise is exercise. Of course it will improve your fitness.

I think you misunderstood the question, is it better for fitness first thing in the morning or just the same if I was to run in the evening for example.

running first thing in the morning is more of a mental thing, as previously mentioned. some people believe it gets you fitter because it has more clean air earlier in the day as there is less traffic generally. howvever no, running is running and its the same throughout the day. if getting fight fit is your aim mix up your running, to HIIT etc. and running on an empty stomach is good because if you have just eaten you may feel a need to vomit whilst excersing. what i generally do is wake up at 5. run, then eat. you should eat something like porridge, raisins and bannana, bannana and raisians contain potassium which help repair....people like to say "should not eat carbs after 4" fighters arnt body builders, we need carbs, especially if you are waking up early next day doing roadwork, if you have had say pasta...specifically brown-complex carb-slow release of energy, then that will be sufficient energy for your early run, protein shakes with no carbs are good AFTER a workout, not before, if you train tired, you fight tired....you may make the weight but not win the fight, which would you rather?...something liek a cnp pro recover is good after a workout.
