  • six small meals

ive heard about eating six small sized meals per day....is that really good? and if so how small are the meals

right now im 112, looking to get down to 105 for my next fight. I'm already in great shape with a low bf%, i want to drop the 7lbs properly over the next 2 weeks and be able to maintain 105 until i grow some more. I dont wanna stay at 112 for the next 2-3 weeks and then go oh **** and just sweat out 7lbs and not eat for a day

so im eating 3-4 rather large meals per day right now, if i switched to the six small meals per day do you think that would help me drop the 7lbs? i remember a dude posting on here a while back saying he switched to 6 little meals per day and dropped weight pretty quickly

and obviously im changing my running up a bit, lowering the intensity and increasing the length of most of my runs to drop some weight

    thanks guys

its better to eat small meals than eating 3 times a day. the more you feel hungry the more you eat and small meals will help you not to feel hungry

It is overall calories that you eat for a day that makes the biggest difference to weight loss not meal frequency. Some theories say that it is better to eat the smaller meals because it if the body is receiving less frequency of food and in calorie deficit then the body will maintain more fat going into survival mode. So in theory the fat loss will become harder. Changing from 4 meals a day to 6 will probably make no difference at all though (unless your overall food intake is decreased). But you could try it anyway and see if it works for you, try meals that are no bigger than the size of your fist as a basic guide. When I tried to switch to more frequent smaller meals I lost weight slower not faster, but it may have been because I was unconsciously eating more in total for the day.

its just that your metabolisim never stops burning food if your eating in a greater frequency. the amount of food that your eating each time dosent really matter. you could have 6 1000 calorie meals or 6 500 calorie meals if you wanted to because of the frequency though you probably burn about 5% more calories throughout the day

3 small meals and 3 snacks, not the same as 6 small meals. When you have your meal try to have the meat portion (could be chicken or fish also) not to be bigger than the palm of your hand, and whatever you have with it in small portions as well. Snacks can be cereal, granola bars, ect.... You can eat heavy ever once in a while and have your pizza and beer and stuff but keep it to a minimum. 3 meals, 3 snacks, you'll never be hungry.
