  • Boxing Gloves

I’ve been having a lot of pain in my knuckles lately. I wrap my knuckles pretty well, but still doesn't seem to do much. I was thinking new gloves could definitely help out, but overall I just want new ones

Any feedback on these gloves or suggestions on different ones would be great!

Don't know about Hayabusa mma sparring gloves.
Cleto Reyes are excellent but are a "punchers" glove, meaning they have a little less padding than normal.

Ringside makes a good training glove

Grant is excellent as well but pricey like Reyes.

Londsdale is like Everlast, I believe that's Everlast European sister company so to speak. Everyone I talk to compares them to Everlast.

It depends on what you want to use them for, sparring, training, bagwork? And how much you want to spend...

Lonsdale and Everlast are very similar and use some of the same designs for their products.

The Hayabusa gloves are very nice and fit more like a Twins or Rival lace up glove. The wrist and cuff area fit very snug but provide good support.

I've heard from those who have owned Hayabusa gloves that they are rather stiff/hard.

MMA style boxing gloves usually are a little more stiff to help with the clinch.

Out of the four of those, I'd go with the Ringside IMF ones.

But try sticking a piece of sponge over your knuckles then wrap you hands. Are you using 180" mexican wraps? You should be. Better gloves will help protect more, but just a good pair of wraps and a sponge could save you some $$$.

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. In regards to what I'm using them for - primarily sparring and training/mitts. I want to spend under $100, but am willing to pay more for quality.

It seems like I've been hearing alot of good feedback on the Ringside IMF Tech, Grants & Reyes. If Reyes has less padding then that's probably the wrong road to go down.

I've also heard a good post regarding Hayabusa MMA Sparring Gloves. (sherdog.net/forums/f67/hayabusa-16oz-sparring-gloves-746757) It talked about the extra support in the wrist, which is another issue I'm having with the gloves I have right now.

Also, anyone have any reviews on Fairtex?

U never said anything about money.

Fairtex has some good quality gloves. Really good actually. Good protection, nice and stiff (probably because they are MT gloves). Still really good gloves, good for the price.

hook and lace sparring gloves suck, your always losing your grip and having to readjust your hand in them.

If your hurting your knuckles then get a pad to lay over your knuckles while wrapping them, you may want another wrap to use on top of that aswell.........Rockin'

I agree, no matter what brand, the velcro gloves can't be tightened up the way you can with the lace-ups. I originally ordered 16oz Winning gloves but I exchanged them for 14oz, thinking it was the size of the glove was the reason I had to keep readjusting my hands.

I was wrong, whether it was the 14oz or the 16oz I had the same problem.

But, it kinda gets annoying if I had to tie my lace-ups all the time, just realize, that in a boxing class you're often having to switch from being the puncher to being the bag holder or pad holder.

When I spar, I only use my lace-ups, but for my boxing classes or working on my own, definitely the velcro's are the way to go.
