Put these earmuffs on and move your upper body a little, his first reaction will be to go to the boy and there is your chance. Never go into exchanges that you cant control
How can you ever know unless you just get in there and roll. Sometimes you have to make the openings............Rockin'

Most swarmers trained to look for all the possible openings so they can just keep the opponents on the back foot. Best tactic against that, or at least what warked well for me was to back down with head movement and look for him to lunge in with hooks to the body and open his left to my short right from the angle. This ofcourse was never my tactic for the whole fight, as i usually preferred to stay at angles and on the outside and work my right over his left.but if the guy was quick, yeah, sometimes I just had to take some damage to make him respect my punch.
if your looking down then your eyes still havent developed enough meaning your still flinching/squinting/closing your eyes when punches are coming. You gotta keep your eyes forward so you can see whats coming. if you its an exchange of 1-2s then when the jab is coming parry or catch it with your right hand and as the 2 is coming slip a little and throw a overhand right for a counter. or slip completely over and throw a body shot to the liver. or you can simply hit the jab down with your lead hand and throw a straight right down the pipe. so many things you can do. you just have to stay calm and keep your eyes open and look at your opponent.
All of you gave me some nice tips, thanks everybody.
And maybe the reason why I was losing out so badly in the exchange was because my opponent was a former pro boxer and im just a 16 year old kid who started boxing 3 months ago. hahaha
u can try counter him just look straight into his hands and block or parry at the same time u must then respond quickly with the other hand. At first u may get hit a lot but soon u will be good at it.
For the million dollar question: About how many months will it take before I remove my fear of punches so I dont blink my eyes when im about to get punched

At a guess id say it takes 6-9 months before you are no longer bothered by punches and are just concentrating on doing the right thing, it varies from person to person though
if you started punching yourself in the face you could probably get their in a month easy. if you want instructions how to properly punch your self in the face i can post them but over all its probably a bad idea.
