it does
basically, it "breaks" your knuckle bones but to a little degree, so they heal for themselves while absorbing more calcium than normal
it does make them harder and even maybe a liiiiiittle bit bigger, but i wanna be a healthy old man, not a broken one, so no thanks lolComment

in a utube video of the ali vs foreman fight, at the end b4 the interview, that goes by the screan, i made a thread about it, but its jus the reflection of a person faceing the spot light.

well, of course. arthritis by definition is the excess of calcium deposited in your bones/joints. so yeah... if you punch sand, basically your doing what arthritis does to your body, but in a very small amount, so it won't be a problem at least while you're young
i'm not saying that it will guarantee you some form of arthritis, but it'll certainly take your chances higherComment

Yes, it is true.
It will toughen up your hands to an extent, and then it will cease to increase the density of your bone. Thats when you switch to gravel and then to iron shot (iron pellets that resemble bb's from a bb gun).
However, this will cause your hands to be rough and nasty feeling and you can also damage your knuckles badly if you do it wrong. I know how to do it but I am not permitted to share such knowledge of martial arts.Comment

One of Wai Hong's guys?
Aside from the good advice on the running thread, i knew there was a reason I liked yah.hehe
I was Jow Ga in DC.
School's floors were plywood, pushups everyday.
Jumping knuckle pushups on the stairs when we were ready.
Heavybag was duct-tape over canvas and we were encouraged to hit it w/out gloves - so nothing crazy hard like a sandbag or a makiwara, but we had to have good structure or we'd roll our wrists.Comment

I've been out of the loop for a while. The last I knew Tak was still on his own but was the heir apparent. I met Paul but never saw him work out or fight. He had a place in Jersey. I never went there.Comment
