  • good boxing stats?

Just wondering if these stats give me an advantage in the ring.

    17 years old
can make welterweight limit, natural junior middleweight
    6ft 2''
armpit to end of fist: 28.5''
fingertip to fingertip: 74'' (shoulders not very broad)

ive been searching for tale of the tapes and things to see how I match up to similar sized fighters like paul williams but I cant conclude if I have natural advantages or not. (obviously I do with my height) But in amatuers alot of welterweights are tall like me.

go on boxrec.com it has their stats. Williams has an 82 reach at 6'1, i dont think anyone can match up with that.

Doesn't mean ****, you could be a weak skinny frail person with no power or speed for that matter. You think height alone is good enough? Why don't you post other stats that involve your accomplishments in strength, speed, etc. What is your 100 meter sprint, what is your mile time, how strong are you? There are 9 out of 10 people who are either too unathletic, weak, or both even if they were gifted with a good height which equates to reach advantage in boxing.

I'm inquiring into how much of an advantage the said measurements of my body give me.

My height to weight ratio will give you an idea of how "skinny" I am.

I'm not making a post stating how strong and fast I am. I simply want to know if my reach and height are good for my weight class. What a ****** suggestion.

What you want, me to post a video of my handspeed or something? Christ.

Reach measured from armpit to end of the fist is far more accurate in terms of assessing a reach advantage.

But I just checked Carl Froch's boxrec and he has the same wing span as me. It doesn't state his arms though.

Paul williams just has broad shoulders. His reach from armpit to end of fist is 26 inches.

boxing isn't basketball LOL, and a 6'2 welterweight I'd say you are at a severe disadvantage when fighting on the inside and with overall strength/explosiveness.

I am not a boxer so my opinion is just my thoughts and nothing more. I am short I guess (5'-8.5" I don't know my reach probably 30 inches, using my hand approx 7 inches palm to tips) but I kill taller guys who like to play around so to speak on the inside. I rough them up and pummel the body, it's kind of funny. I am pretty quick for not being a boxer, I practice boxing and have a heavy bag and shadow box and stuff but I am nothing to brag about. My shoulders are not wide at all but the inside game would be my only advantage I know this, on the outside, I'd either get hit or be too far away to do any damage.

Wide shoulders are not too good in my opinion because a straight shooter will put the punches right through the middle every time, know what works for you and stick to it.

I'm no expert so take my advice with a grain of salt or whatever.

by the way, i way 155 but was 165 2 months ago, so I am not sure what my natural weight class would be. I could get down to 147 most likely and be around 6 or 7% fat, I'm like 9-10% now, kinda fat boy, lol
