Talk to your coach. Just calm down and don't worry. You will be fine don't be scared. Man the *** up!

Honestly before a fight your blood pressure is likely to be up anyway. The adrenaline, tense muscles and increased heart rate are key to this. Also your blood pressure may get high before training or may remain high for a while after.

Its when its always fairly high that you need to seek medical advice. above 145 over 90 is getting there. But dont worry too much, Muhammad Ali's was 200 over 120 before he faced Sonny Liston and still gave him a beating!!

Some people find that deep breathing, lying down or listening to chilled out music helps, but to be honest before a fight you're more likely to get wound up trying to relax.

If you are worried about your blood pressure generally try buying a machine, you can get a good one for about £40 or $70 from a pharmacy and take readings perhaps three times a day at different times over a few weeks. You may find most of the time you are fine (120-135 over 75-85), just before fighting it may rise high.

If you find you do tend toward the higher readings you will need to watch your salt intake, perhaps lose weight and do more cardio work and drink more water. Watching salt intake is tricky, its not just a case of not adding salt to food but scrutinising labels for sodium content. Cakes and sweet things often have a higher salt content than you'd expect, so do ****y foods and curries.

Oh and watch diuretic drinks like strong tea, coffee or alcohol, they wont help your cause much!!

Look into Hawthorne Berry and Celery Seed Extract. They take a week or so to kick in but it works. I know guys who use it on Designer Steroid cycles and it helps keep the BP down.

My dad uses the CSE and it works as a replacement for prescription ****
