  • What gear should i buy?

I've just started boxing and have been using my friends gear but i'd like to get some of my own, i've just had a £500 tax rebate so have abit of cash to spend too.

I'm after either some Grant/Winning 12oz AND 16oz gloves and everything else i need. Also I'm UK so if anyone has any good sites that ship here that would be great.

    Thanks alot

Why Lonsdale? I3C, are you aware that Lonsdale is owned by Everlast.

I've never tried them and was actually curious until I went to an MMA shop and the owner told me. Also, Combat Sports owns Ringside.

Lonsdale's the British Everlast, but I don't think it's owned by Everlast.
It was bought out in 2003 by Mike Ashley, owner of Kangol & Newcastle United Football Club (soccer).

Everlast was acquired by Brands Holdings, a unit of Sports Direct International, in September 2007.

What is most interesting to me is the fact that the Lonsdale gear on Ringside's site looks NOTHING like the gear for sale on the official Lonsdale London website in the UK: http://www.lonsdaleboxing.co.uk/

Some of the REAL Lonsdale gear actually looks interesting - like sneaker style holes for venting on the palm side of the glove, old fashioned maroon colors, faux-alligator skin, and the "Authentic Range" - which is kinda like what Ringside Ultimate Classic was supposed to be, an entire line of gear with plain brown leather.

The stuff on the Ringside just looks like re-badged Ringside equipment. Even the gel wraps are completely different.

I like Ringside gear and they've been great to me customer-service-wise, so I really do like the company, but I'm starting to get tired of the continual bait & switch with these guys when it comes to branded gear. I wonder what this means for Grant, who seem to be completely aligned with Ringside on all levels.
