  • foot pain

right now i have aching pain in my right foot (sort of at the top of the foot) when ever i walk so ive got a weird limp and i cant stand on my toes, so ive had to miss training this week, i went to the doctor and got an xray and he said he couldnt see a fracture he said just so elevate it and put a heat pack on it, its been a week since tha pain started and its been 2 days since the doc told me to do that- and i have been doing it and the pain hasnt gone away, i know its probably been caused by all the running i do in my crap sneakers, or all the pivoting and skipping and moving around on my toes i do in boxing boots

does anyone else have an idea what it could be or how best to fix it

Probably just muscular, doubt it's anything to do with ligaments.

If it hasn't gone after another week or gotten considerably weaker, then go back to your Doctor.

May sound generic but use the RICE method (Rest, Ice,Compression, Elevation) You dont wanna mess around with foot injuries as they can linger for quite some time. Also, try and get some good running shoes. Once you made the switch youll feel a huge difference. Hope this helps

Yes. I have the same thing right now, and you are in luck because I know what causes it.

Its from jumping back and coming forward quickly off the ball of your foot.

Fortunately there is a quick, simple solution that will completely eliminate the pain.

Tape your foot in front of the pain, not over it. The pain is caused by an injured ligament being stretched when you step on your feet and they widen.

Taping in front of the pain prevents this stretching, and completely eliminates the pain.

So basically, tape right behind the "knuckle" of your big toe.

Like this. I put a red dot where the pain is for me.

Also don't tape to tight. It should just be snug when your foot is elevated, you will be able to tell when its taped too tight or not, and after a few tries you should get the pressure right.

This injury has nothing to do with running, and everything to do with the fact that the human foot is poorly suited for the repetitive lateral strains placed on it from jumping back and forth on the balls of your feet.
