  • DO NOT BUY thread

Prevent people from throwing money away here.

    I'll go first:

    1. Title Platinum Training Gloves- The gloves are extremely soft, which makes them useless in sparring when you are trying to back a mofo up.

    2. Ringside IMF Tech-very boring gloves, especially when doing mitt work and bag work. Nice and solid for sparring but the inside is too tight. I bought them because my wrists kept getting hurt and they did work in protecting them but they are just no fun.

3.Title Pro-Mex gloves-the most uncomfortable gloves. My left jabs are thumb-first thanks to this glove. Irregular manufactoring. Pure ****. Do not buy.

Do not, I repeat, do not buy anything that's not Winning. There, I made it easy for y'all. 'Cause anything less sucks!

i can agree with everything but imf tech. Alot of reputable posters love that gloves and i dont see how it could be bad. Idk what you mean by boring because that gloves offers good foam/padding and good wrist support. It might be heavy or something but im sure its a good glove.

i've had good experiences with all these gloves and pretty much disagree with everything you said. especially the imfs. very protective and great gloves overall in my opinion.

the idea that winning is the be-all end-all as far as boxing equipment goes is pretty ridiculous. so many accomplished fighters, pro and amateur, do NOT use winning gear. there are a lot of really good brands out there, but ultimately it has nothing to do with the brand of equipment you're using.

nope, but winning is the best overall. you dont have to have it but if you can afford it you can find anything better. Grant pro gloves and some ringside gloves are pretty good.

Oh and Reyes pro fight gloves and Everlast pro fight gloves are good. But i wouldnt recomend their training line of gloves.

I think Grant and Reyes are much better, as Winning have only crashed the Gucci boxing gloves party recently. i think anything that is Title or Lonsdale will be hit and miss in terms of quality. when I first started many years ago, I bought alot of **** from these tow brands that have now merged. some of it was good and some of it was pure and utter bull****! Taht is what you get from title. I once orderd a pari fo shorts from across the pond and they didn;t label them as clothing but as equipment for sport whcih meant the import duty went from £0.0p to £22.50p. Someone who sells things to other countries should know how to label the customs labels. **** title, **** them up their silly arses!

It's all personal preference. I guess I have the same personal preference as PAC, Floyd Mayweather Jr.,MAB, Morales, JMM, Mike Tyson, ODLH, Urbano Antillon, I can go on and on but Winning is the ****!!

Bro, Winning has been around for thirty seven f**kin' years. The public may have never really heard of it. But the elite prizefighters have been wearing Winning ever since.

Everyone heard of Winning due to the PAC- Morales glove controversy, but Winning has been a favorite of a ton of fighters !

The person that runs the Winning in America even said that they had the serious fighter in mind, I mean, I even found the guy to be kind of odd due to his straight-forwardness. 'Cause he told me that if you're just boxing for physical activity he doesn't recommend their product.

Just wanted to throw this in:
A good buddy of mine that i've known for like 7 years, who's really influenced my training and mentality when it comes to fight sports and martial arts picked up a pair of Winnings off of ebay a while back for cheap.
They lasted less than 6 months. The padding fell apart. He said the leather was surprisingly low quality.

Now I trust this guy. I've known him a long time and he's never steered me wrong.
I gotta accept that maybe there is at least one person out there that regrets spending over 200 on a Winning glove.
I've had many gloves that weren't Winning and weren't "crap".

                  Some gloves I've liked:
Ringside Ultimate Classic Super Bag Gloves
                  Grant Super Bag gloves
Grant Pro Training gloves (though it took a while and the love affair was short)
Ringside IMFs - yes, I had to be conscious to hit with the big knuckles, but these gloves are resilient as anything I've ever seen anywhere, they're comfortable, and wick away sweat very well.
King elastic cuff training glove - funky, artificial feeling leather, but are absolutely perfect for muay thai and though I can't speak to their longevity, I love them out of the box
Twins - once they break in they rock, if you have the patience
Ringside Amateur competition gloves - borrowed a pair once and they were some of the most comfortable gloves I've ever worn
Tufwear - they actually live up to the name, every pair i've tried has held up to extensive use

Some gloves I will never buy again:
Anything by Title (including the "Fighting" glove which is a Title company)
Reyes - awesome gloves but they just don't fit me at all
Ringside Ultimate Classic Training glove - you can't tell how hard you hit so your sparring partners try to take your head off, but talk about gloves you can't actually hurt anybody with
Windy - they're so-so once they break in, but until then crap
Everlast - the old pro training gloves had a nice fit but the plastic horse hair fill came through the liner in less than 4 uses. The rest of their gloves are absolute donkey crap
Top Ten - not a bad glove, but there are a lot of other gloves that fit and perform much better

Gloves that probably deserve the Winning reputation:
Flores - if you can find them, they're worth whatever's being asked

Contenders who have strong reputations, but I haven't tried yet:
Shevlins - custom, so you gotta be specific. I'll know for sure in June
G&S - too many guys I know swear by these gloves for them to be bad
Gorilla Fight Gear - the guy that runs this company posts on another forum and really knows what he's doing.
Legacy Boxing - the original family of Everlast making high quality gloves the old way, nuff said.
KOfightgear - too many guys on sherdog jizzing over this company for it to be a fluke
SSF - their store's down, but like KOFightgear, a lot of guy's love 'em, and like Gorilla, the owner is on a forum & is a knowledgeable & amicable guy.

Gloves that are better than you'd think:
Top Contender - A few friends were very pleasantly surprised by these gloves. The old lace ups in 18oz definitely seemed worth the $$.

                    damn good thread!

from the top of my head, I would recommend not buying pretty much any Everlast gloves and ringside personal work out timer went mute after a week, LOL.
