  • Which would you rather have? Gym vs Trainer

I know a trainer that just opened up his own gym in a pretty nice location. He works with us and you can tell he wants us to improve, only thing is...since it is a new gym he is lacking a few things. Gloves and headgear are not yet provided. There are the basics, mirrors, jump ropes, double end, speed bag, heavy bag, large ring. However, there are no weights or treadmill. The previous gym i was in had more equipment, but less focus on boxers. Which would you rather have? A new gym but a reputable trainer, or a gym with more equipment BUT not much attention geared towards improvement but making money. BTW the new gym is considerably the same price....

Cliff notes for the lazy: Being the same price, would you rather have a good trainer but less equipment to work with in a gym, or a well equiped boxing gym but not much focus towards improving boxers?

definitely go with the good trainer and the badly eqiupped gym

boxing is a sport that doesnt need a ton of equipment, you can bring your own gloves and that, it sounds like its decently equipped anyway

you can have all the nice equipment in the world but if your gym aint focusing on you you wont improve

a good trainer can make do

Me personally, i'd prefer a gym. In fact, my first coach/manager/trainer and I worked out of something similar. But now i'm at a real boxing gym and it's waaay different. The atmosphere and boxing environment is what makes the difference, IMO. Plus, a boxing gym usually has a ring and if you're trying to get into the business, that's the office right there.

Trainer! You have to buy your own **** anyway and if you're not that advance in boxing then a gym would do you no good because, in my case, I want to improve. Having all the **** without knowing how to use it properly won't do you any good. You won't improve.

Once I master all the basics then I might consider a gym rather than a trainer, but for now a trainer would be best.

I actually just started training for boxing and I gotta say that I prefer trainer. I'm coming from a fitness gym that had alot of things except for sparring gear and a ring. They had the equipment there mostly for the cardio boxing class. Then I sign up for an actual boxing gym run by just 1 trainer. And I gotta say, that I'm starting from scratch again, learning the basics, not even punching anything. The boxing gym that I go to is bare bones...no ring or anything. But the one on one with the trainer, correcting my mistakes and learning everything about the sport is well worth the money I pay for.

id def say a great trainer unless u are a vet. like as said, usually equipment is not provided so much as far as i know.

really, i can say for sure that a good trainer is irreplaceable.
