  • Nervous about first day at the gym

So, Im headin to a boxing gym for the first time ever sometime next week. Prolly mon or tues. Im kinda nervous about it. Its somethin ive always wanted to do but most of the gyms around my way charge out the ass for membership. But I finally found one that opened about 6 months ago and is gettin a pretty good reputation around town and is reasonably priced. Like I have no idea what to expect. I know im not gunna go right in there and be real good at first or even make it all the way through the whole workout cuz im in terrible shape right now to be honest. Not real overwieght or anything (5'9'" 185) just havent exercised in like 6 years prolly. I guess what im gettin at, is it normal to feel like this?

Sorry if this post is all over the place lol

dude not at all....Look man, first of all...throw that nervous crap out the window. Clear your mind. You are going to a boxing gym to learn a sport where people want to stomp your ass. You got to have the determination and hunger to get in that ring. your coach should help and not let nothing hurt you...although expect a little bumps and a lot of bruising along the way. If you're scared use it as motivation and protection. You'll be fine if you know why you doing this....If you need any thing let me know....and my coach in my opinion is the best and he hits this thread all the time...Ill tell him to hit you up..

When i first started i was an overweight smoker who would drink like a fish. I just decided to do it. You will do fine, they will run your ass to the ground with some hard core exercise but you will walk out a bigger man for doing it and you will feel better for doing somthing you wanted to do.

most people at boxing gyms are pretty nice, you get the occasional **** but most people dont feel the need to intimidate or prove themselves vs a beginner, thats just ******

just be open and friendly and willing to do your best and learn and you will be fine

agreed. you'll also see the real serious guys giving you the eye of the tiger, dont mind them, they'll come around after a while, just be polite and treat everybody with respect.
