Or you could learn from the guy that destroyed you when you stepped into the ring thinking "i'll watch some boxing and create my own style"

*just teasing* I created a thread a few days ago about books, someone mentioned a joe frazier book thats pretty good - nothing beats an actual trainer, or experienced partners, but if thats not available, or if you're like me and just doing it for fitness reasons, there are some books out there, just get reviews on em from people here on boxing scene.

actually it works pretty nice, i throw off my opponents by having a speed base style i.e. bouncing around and moving everywhere jus throwing jabs and 1-2/1-2-3 combos, then i have a power base where i just move slowly towards him, sit there wait for him to come in and deliver uppercuts/hooks, then i dont punch for like 20-30sec to get my breath back and just dodge and counter most of his punches...i cycle these "styles" all throughout the fight and it works extremely well, i sometimes go southpaw and feint with the left and deliver a crushing right...works real nice...i like to mix it up

Just read more books on boxing. Like biographies and stories. You learn a lot just reading ABOUT boxing. It doesn't always have to be instructional.

I recommend Anything by Liebling, Joyce Carol Oates and for God's Sakes, READ FX Toole! (He wrote the collection of short stories Rope Burns.
