I use to feel that way all the time. But, I've matured a bit and it actually helps.

When I'm feelin' hostile going into a sparring session, I feel tight, but if I just relax, the combos just flow and end up doin' damage .

Moral of the story is, don't try to have that football mentality going into a sparring session or actual fight, let it flow, the combinations will be there and next thing you know, your sparring partner has turned into your own personal punching bag.

Boxing is about knockouts, it is not about sadism. You don't have to be a sadist to be a boxer. The correct way to test your power is the lefthook to the body. At most gyms they disapprove of knockouts by head shots.

in sparring, of course, i can lay a bit more force out into a strike. but, even then, i take it real carefull.

anyways, yeah, the bigger, more heavy the bag, the better and more i like it. some of my cousin boxers say it is useless to use less than an 85 -100 pound bag. i have to agree. those just dont weigh enough and can fly up to the ceiling if i use more of a regular forcefull and less penetrating/concussive force type punch.
sounds like you have tyson like power, that will take you far man
