  • Anyone here have the Fightgear full-face headgear - Your reviews pls

Since Winning has raised their prices to where only multi-millionaire fighters can afford 'em. The other option would be Fightgear's full-face headgear.

But, before I purchase it, I'd like to hear your guys' pros and cons for those who have tried it. Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

if your talking about the full faced ones with the bars in the middle I hate them. With fighting the most important thing that you have are your eyes. With these full faced headgears the obstruct your vision. You need to see everything or its like fighting with one eye closed. If your trying to learn to fight part of the lessons are how to take them and keep on rollin'. In my opinion, unless you have an injured nose, boxing is one game that does not conform well with training wheels. If your just looking to have fun and so on then it may be good for you, but remember that your vision will be obstructed. I would rather fight with one arm then wear one of those.................Rockin'

yea they are so bad and corrupt your vision so severely that only pretty much every professional name out there uses them.

I like your ****ty sarcasm. I wonder if you've ever worn one. And the only pros I ever saw wearing them at Galaxy were....... well none of us. The only people we saw wearing them were absolute beginners that were being broken in lightly ..................Rockin'

Thanks for the feedback Rockin'. I have to say, that IC3727 does have a point. Alot of prizefighters today use the headgear w/ the facebar. I am seeing it more and more with the pros these days. Just check out some PAC pics, De La Hoya pics, Linares pics, etc...

The thing is though Rockin', I think it may vary from brand to brand, the only time I've ever tried on a headgear w/ a facebar was about a month ago. I put on the Winning brand and moved around a bit with them and my vision was fine. But, Winning is just so d*mn expensive, and I just don't think any headgear justifies a $370 pricetag, unless it can 100% guarantee me that no way in hell I can get ko'd(lol).

Anyway, to the other members, I'm still looking for feedback from those who actually own Fightgear's headgear w/ facebar.

If you are going to get a full-face I have read good things about the Cleto Reyes (after Winning of course). $20 more than the fightgear. In my opinion, the fightgear looks big.

Maybe get both, check them out, and send one back?

i personally don't like full-face headgear. i have the title platinum full face, and i've used the fight gear full face. i find they slide around more than regular training or competition headgear, probably because there's no chin strap and just a velcro back (no lace).

just my 2 cents. i spar and fight with fight gear competition headgear. it works the best for me, but it's really all personal preference.

ps- i've never needed the little bit of extra chin protection that comes with the full-face. if you want something that protects your eyes and cheekbones look at mexican-style headgear, or even a face-bar (i personally think face-bar headgear is too heavy.)

Oh ****, I just noticed my mistake. I actually had the face-bar in mind and not the full-face headgear.

YEAH, so for anyone here that has Fightgear's headgear with the face-bar, that's what I want the feedback on. Thanks.

Be careful with the Reyes ones because they put steel bars in them, I cant imagine how heavy that is. Im pretty sure they have one with a nylon bar in it but you would have to look around.
