  • heavy bag, hand problems

    Hi,

My hands often hurt when i hit the bag with full force straight rights and left hooks wearing bag gloves. To solve this i have began using 10 oz sparring gloves when hitting the bag with full power. Is this a good way to solve the problem? Is there any way else to solve this or do i just suffer from weak hands?

wrap your hand correctly and use 16 oz for safety

i had a problem where my left hand hurt below the pinky on the side of my hand near the wrist sharp stabbing pain ended up getting that grip thing where you squeze the handels together and this stuff called power putty at ems, thats like silly putty but 20 times harder, and started using them in my car or at my house in my free time and the sharp pains went away but if its in the knuckles them selfs like getting bruised im not sure of the problem. punch more walls and they should get stronger?

I use sponges for my knuckles and wrappin my hands super tight. The size gloves i use for the bag are 14ozs and my knuckles are still sore. It feels good though.

My knuckles don't bruise or anything it's more like a sudden ache inside and just below the knuckles at the moment of impact. Thans for your advice i will try using the handels.

I use ringside gloves since all the other brands I tend to hurt my hands. I also extra pad my knuckles with my hand wraps. Ringside gloves are the best for heavy bag work IMO.

Before you began working the heavybag you should have spent some time conditioning your hands. How much time depends on where you are starting from. Boxing, and boxing training, is a violent and dangerous sport. You need to prepare yourself properly.
