  • a good question...

do u think for boxers its better to go into the gym with basiclly like a set plan, could be written out.. or in ur head.. of how many rounds of wut and sets of wut ur doing each day... liek have a strict routine..

do u think its better to go in everyday n just do wut u feel like doing as long as u put in the time and leave drained each time. knowing u did more then average work

i believe most stick to a strict routine but sometimes itll change up just slightly like somtimes they may want to go a few more rounds with certain drills or sparring and such but over all still the same routine. sticking to a routine is usually better just because it helps you become more well rounded faster rather then the chance you may not train in a specific drill as often because you dont like it as much or something.

do what your coach advises you to do. if your not in camp mode then you can pretty much do what you want if your not a nub. Normally nubs have to be held by the hand. If your not then you coach will more than likely expect you to know what to do, if you dont have a fight comming up.

My trainer gives me a set workout routine to do every few weeks. We’ll work something up that’s pretty balanced as far as shoulders, back, core, legs, then some movement and footwork drills, cardio stuff like dragging a car tire around the building. He’ll work with me on it for a few days just to make sure I’m doing everything right then I’m on my own. It normally takes about an hour or so to do the workout. I go 5 days a week, so 2 of the days I do my workout then spar or at least get in the ring and work on some defense/ offence with the mitts. After I’m done with my set routine I’m free to do what I want and that’s when it just gets’s random. I tend to go back to the exercises that kick my ass so that they don’t bother me as much later.

A problem that I’m facing now with the random workout is just getting exhausted. I go workout HARD for that hour or so and then I find myself staying around doing more **** for another few hours. I enjoy it so much that I forget how much work it actually is and wind up staying at the gym for 3+ hours at least 3- 4 days a week. It’s not uncommon for me to do my workout then go 3 rounds of sparring, sit 1 or 2 out then another 3 rounds. Then get out and run with the tire again, or jump rope for a few rounds. So by the end of the week, I’m just dragging ass because I’ve pushed myself so hard all week. My trainer loved it at first because even though I wasn’t very good at a lot of things I stuck with it and busted ass. Now I just need to learn how listen to my body, he said my workouts aren’t as productive because I’m too tired or slow to react. As a matter of fact he told me NOT to come in today because he wants me to spar this armature guy on Wednesday and he want’s be to be sharp and not run down.

you should have a plan or a set program because remember this is a science and you can not be unscientific in your approch and expect to get better.
science= something (as a sport or technique) that may be studied or learned like systematized knowledge

I think its better to have a set plan but it should still be somewhat flexible because some days it would be a bad idea to spar cuz your worn out because of say, stress, or some days youve got energy for miles and all you want to do is spar and/or work things out. If you have the energy you should use it but still leave a little in the tank so you can still go hard next time too.
