  • Grant Pro Training Gloves Coloring Questions.

I have a question for anyone who has these gloves or seen/used them. I sent some Pms out to people i know have them through the search function.

What i am trying to describe is hard to depict but i did the best i could with the pics below, this thread is mainly for people who already have the gloves to look at the pictures and see how theirs compare.

Any of you notice poor quality coloring? I got mine in WHITE and the coloring is very poorly done it seems. The white has different tones throughout the glove, some darker some lighter, some you can kinda see the color of the leather under it. Almost like trying to color metal with very watery paint.

I was looking at a black pair that someone has at my gym and the coloring looks ALOT more solid, like the color is actually part of the leahter if anyone knows what i mean. It might just be because they are black, my other friend has a pair of Blue ones so im gonna compare them tomorrow or monday, i will try to get some pictures.

I will post some pics in about an hour, i have to get the right lighting with my ****ty camera.

A friend of mine also mentioned that since it is such high quality leather that is the best white your gonna get on them, idk if this is true or not because the other grant gloves i have seen have a way better finish.

They also have green water resistant lining, not the wool type lining on the interior of the glove.

Thanks everyone, im trying to decide wether i should send them back and get red or something else if it is jus the color white that looks ****ty, or if its a bad pair or if i should just deal with it.

I guess they took the liberty of putting a pen mark on them, i was gonna do it as soon as i got them but thanks ringside for getting that out of the way.

This is what i DONT want them to look like in a month. Maybe i should be treating the leather with something? Anyone have any suggestions on that? Those gloves were only used for a month, i cant imageine 6 months to a year, the color would be completely gone, what a good 120 dollar investment.

Here are the rest of the pics, CLICK THEM PLEASE.

I have the Grant Pro training as well, but in black and red. I don't have that kind of off-coloring that I see in your gloves. Eventhough I like white gloves, I never get them, because any dirt, cracks becomes highly noticeable.

I just got mine a few months ago and only use mine for sparring. To be honest, I'm not too happy with the way Grant makes their gloves, especially the lining you are referring to, mine is the same as well. It looks like a piss poor job. One good thing about the Grants though, I actually like the feel of it better than my Winnings.

That's why I am a strong backer of Ringside products in general. Ringside is looked at as a second-tier glovemaker in most peoples eyes, but I on the contrary think their commitment to a great product has been consistent throughout the years.

hmm, so maybe it isnt just me.

Should i send them back and get red or something? Does that pen mark piss you off as much as it does me lol. Since i returned something through disatisfaction they should have looked at the gloves they were gonna send me and be sure they werent just as bad as the gloves i sent back.

      Would you send them back?

      Thanks for the reply.

By jeepers this gets my blood boiling, boxing is about fighting nowadays namby pamby ***** boys care more about the color of their gloves than improving boxing skills. Back in my day you were lucky to be able to afford any gloves, I had to sell newspapers in the mornings and work in a coal mine the rest of the day when I was a kiddie and after a year of back breaking work I could affored a pair of gloves made out of oxen hide. There were no goddam colors. Colors dont do **** and if you care about it so much become a hairdresser or something, dont insult the sport. ç
Next someone will be asking how you can do pushups without breaking their nails.
        Toughen Up!

Actually, mine does not have a pen mark. And yeah, you should send yours back, I mean, you did pay a good amount of $$$ for 'em. If you're not satisfied, by all means, send them back!

For another hundred dollars, you can just purchase some Winning gloves. You can just return your Grants(of course, you'll have to pay for shipping them back) and just buy Winnings.

          And as for Potatos's comment
. I see where you're coming from, but we paid a lot of $$$ and for him to receive less than what he expected out of a company that is considered one of the best in the business. I mean, we expected a high-quality product, not something that looks like a 5 year old sewed together.

I got my Grants in 06 before they teamed up with Ringside.
I'm wondering if they were just a different quality back then.
The liner on my gloves is red cotton - kinda like glove-dog material.
There's no discoloration on the white leather on my gloves.
My super bag gloves have held up super well.
I used to dislike the training gloves because I thought the pocket was too big and the fill too hard, but I realized I just had to wear wraps every time with them and break them in a lot more than "normal".
Been using them the past 2 weeks, and my 3 year-old trainers are actually becoming my favorite gloves.
I love how flexible the pocket is on these gloves, which helps a lot for an active, parrying defense.

anyway, I sent you an email with my total write up.

Even though my favorite pair of gloves, the Grant super bag gloves, are starting to fall apart (the velcro), i doubt I'll be replacing them anytime soon. Not, when I've got another 6 pairs of gloves to use in the meantime.
So far though, Grant, Ringside, and Boon are my 3 favorite glove manufacturers.

I don't really see the big deal, but i guess the fact they are brand new is kind of dissapointing and they arnt cheap.. but a little pen mark is nothing this isn't a fancy dress contest and its not like anyone is going to notice..

I have a pair of white winnings gloves and after just a couple of weeks they were already a grey colour.. so if ur really concerned on how ur gloves look dont choose white.

skyler-its pretty odd that your winning gloves would do that, my friend has a pair of white ones that he has for a year and they still look brand new.

Porkchop- i got your pm thanks.

May 02- Thank you for the support, these werent free, i dont deal with a **** of a boss all week to get **** for my money. Thanks for being able to see that and for your input.

Potatoes- not everyone is the same, your probably just one of those people who dont care about that stuff and i see where your coming from but as i stated above, for 150 dollars i better be pretty ****in satisfied. There shouldnt be any ****in pen marks or anything on them for what i deal with.

Anyway thanks everyone, i probably will send them back and talk to them about the white color in general, if they all look that way then i guess im just gonna go with another color, im also gonna check out my friends blue grants and see how the finish is on those before i decide.

This is another reason why I dont like the grants. The ones I got the pro training in red, ******! there interior(the padding on the side of my fist) started falling off after sparring in them 2 times! They wore out very quickly too
