    Should I enter silver gloves?

my trainer asked me if I wanted to enter the silver gloves tournament.
It's made up of fighters with under 10 fights. My coach has been acknowleding my improvement. I only have 1 fight with a guy that had 4 fights and I TKO'd him. I've managed to outpoint a guy with 13 fights and he's 180lbs during sparring many times but he can knock me out if he wanted. I'm 140lbs btw.

I feel like it's early but I feel like what will help me is my height and reach advantage. I'm 5"11 and I have longer reach than the average 140. I'm a natural 170 but I fight at 140 and I have the power of a 170 as I'm told by my sparring partners. I am very comfortable fighting short opponents and that is what I;m hoping on. If I can take on a swarming 170 a swarming 140 is nothing.
I've sparred heavyweights and pro's and very experienced amateurs. But I only have 10 months exp. What;s gonna bother me is their experience , speed and possibly cardio advantage that they possess.

The other guys in the tournament have like average 6-10 fights. I'm gonna have to travel for 3 days should I bother going.

yea man, enter the torny. this is a good way of getting experience. it sounds like you will have a height/reach and strength advantage most of the time too. why are you questioning yourself??
train hard, get some experience, and have fun at the tournie

My parents are against me boxing most of the time and for me to travel for 3 days and come back without a gold medal I wouldn't hear the end of it once I came home. "sigh".

2 words; "why not?". Seriously, it doesn't matter about the ready stuff... he has asked you to go which is something great to you are better off taking the opportunity while you can, you might win and even if you don't what harm as it done if you have tried your best? Also, you will gain some more experience on fighting in competitions.

All I am gonna say is just go for it, you wont know until you go for it and try... take the opportunity while its there!

Prove them wrong, and don't put yourself down if you don't win it... everyone loses amateur fights and tournaments at some point, it is just about gaining experience... just try your best that's all you can do.

do it mate, you've got nothing to lose. if you've only had one bout i wouldnt go into it expecting an easy time, but it'll be great experience win or lose, you'll see how that sort of tournament is run and experience it first hand, cant be a bad thing. Dont worry about your parents, mine are dead set against boxing but you have to do what you want to do, explain to them that it'll make you happy win or lose, im sure they'll support you.
