I want to start boxing and I have a question.

These days a lot of kids don't have many choices went it comes to chosing a boxing gym. I'd like to tell you that most boxing trainers are well qualified, but sadly that is not true. Read some of the posts in this forum, and you will see that boxing training isn't what it once was. Too many kids get thrown to the wolves. All I can suggest is that you get a copy of Joe Fraziers book Box Like The Pros. It will give you some guidelines on evaluating the local gym. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying everything is bad. There is lots of good trainers out there. Just make sure you don't chose the bad ones.
