Advantages and disadvantages of double and single guard???
best thing you can do is learn some defence

Well I hear that Brain-Pad offers a little more protection than Shock Doctor but it doesn't really matter when sparring because of the headgear... I have also heard that the material on Brain-Pads are ****, an I heard that the breathing hole isn't that good and it is hard to breath... plus aparently they can be crushed with minimal pressure. I heard from various searching that Shock Doctor is better, it is a lot less bulky... offers you good protection and it is easier to breath.
So basically I searched threads on this forum where there were more for Shock Doctor and giving disadvantages for Brain-Pad... and I also searched Brain-Pad vs Shock Doctor into Google and found it to be a landslide for the Shock Doctor... again giving disadvantageous for the Brain-Pad and advantages for the Shock Doctor for its simplicity.
I think if what everyone says is true and it is hard to breath and not very comfortable I will go with the Shock Doctor because I think comfort will benefit me... I mean yeah extra protection is good but with the head guard and all it doesn't make a massive difference.
So I think I am going to go with Shock Doctor on this one... unless people should disagree?

Buy both types, dont need the brand names. Two will always come in handy. I personally have found I feel like vomiting using the double guard though I believe it reduces the shock from punches by holding the jaw in place, so if you can get used to it it is better.
I use my mouthguard from years ago but I had to put it in boiling water to re-mould it. It was made and fitted by a dentist and is a hell of alot better than one bought from a sports store. I donīt know if dentists can custom make the double guards or not

I would get a customized one, but it is only for sparring I just wanted to know what would be a good one to buy... I don't plan to slash loads of cash on a custom one just yet, I would rather get a Shock Doctor and see how things go before deciding to get a customized one in the future.
Green Karma for helping though buddy!

Don't get the colored shock doctor, that has a ridge of hard plastic all around...goes for like $20. It is not suited best for boxing...more for other sports, hockey etc.
The shock doc. cheaper version in black will suit you better as it doesn't have that extended ridge, and only costs about $10.
What happens with them is the gel will erode and it will continually cut into your gums. Been there and done it..along with others people I know.
