  • my hand hurts when i do left hooks

I just startet boxing. When i do a left hook, my hand hurts. Its not my wrist, but my knuckles.
If i press the knuckles together, from the index to the pinkie. It hurts like living hell.
The pain usually goes away after a couple of day, until i go training again.

    Any ideas

    thx

My knuckles hurt too. Sponges on your knuckles. Nothing extravegant, just something to get that extra padding. I gotta put two sponges on my knuckles now. My left knuckle is hella swole right now.

If your knuckles hurt that's good because your knuckles will get bigger and strengthen. Knuckle push ups does the trick too.

Its all part of the boxing game, ive had multiple hand injuries some times your hand get tougher sometimes you learn how to throw a punch the right way and problem is corrected.
If you stick with the sport alot of thing will hurt but you just gotta eat it and move forward just like in a fight.

It sounds like you are yet another the victim of poor quality training. Before you start any heavy hitting you should do some preliminary conditioning of your hands for a few weeks or months depending on how strong your hands appear to be. Start off by doing pushups on your fingers and knuckles.

are you using those everlast gloves from local sporting stores?

if you're gonna use cheaply made gloves, having correct punching technique is even more important.

I would give you hands some time to recover, no heavy bagwork for a week or so otherwise the damage will not heal. Lots shadow boxing.
and donīt do pushups on your fingers, your fingers contain no muscle and can damage easily, there are better hand strengthening exercises you can do like squeezing a ball in you hands, climbing a rope, using hand grips etc.
