So I apologize for asking this question as I am sure it has come up before.
Alright, here's the scoop. Right now when I workout, I use 16oz training gloves for everything - mitts, heavy bag, sparring. The idea behind that was that I could build up my stamina using the heavier gloves. However, recently I read that if you want to improve hand speed, you should use lighter gloves - like bag gloves. Right now my hand speed is pretty much non-existent. What are your thoughts on this? I'd like to get another pair of gloves anyways because I don't think it's good for the padding of my gloves to be wearing them down so much and then sparring in them. Thanks.
Edit: Sorry, I feel I need to clarify. Obviously switching from 160z to 12 oz gloves will allow me to punch faster because there is less weight on my hands. What I meant to say is that will TRAINING in lighter gloves help increase handspeed?
