Guy at my gym has the protex 2s, he got them for cheap at Academy.
Only problem I noticed with them was the velcro.

I'm not sure Winning are necessarily cheaper in Japan.
I'll check next time I go to visit the in-laws in Okinawa.
My brother in law boxes too.

The title gel gloves are absolute crap. The Ringside IMF tech are 10 times better.

On the other hand, I have a pair of Grant 16oz lace ups and I HATE those things - half the time I'll switch 'em out before I'm done with the workout.

I used to like Twins, had a pair of 14s that were golden till the padding in the glove bunched up. Bought 2 pairs through Title's website, one with elastic wrist, other with velcro. First pair was garbage, didn't last 3 workouts before i gave them away. Second pair okay, but really uncomfortable - seems to be getting a little better with more use. Not sure I'd call 'em pillow gloves, though they are kinda soft.

I have Title Gels. They're okay, but I don't like how they fit.
I MUCH prefer Ringside IMF Tech gloves.

Ringside Ultimate Classic makes a nice super bag glove, but I HATE their training/sparring glove - talk about a pillow glove, padding feels like a squishy marshmallow.

Top Ten makes a nice sparring glove - the most compact 16oz you'll ever find, so you get the dual benefit of protecting your sparring partner & still having a tight defense because of smaller gloves (sparring with gloves too big can ruin your defense - makes it too easy).

I have a feeling that Title and Ringside modify the 3rd party gloves they sell.

Everyone loves Cletos, but the 2 pair I bought through Ringside had an extra seam on the palm that was very uncomfortable - thought the gloves were garbage (14s fit okay but weren't padded enough, 16s were way big on me).

Bought some Windy through Ringside in 06. Gave those gloves away after 2 workouts. The wrist strap started falling apart and they just felt like garbage, not a nice striking surface at all. Windy has a really good reputation in Thailand, so I wouldn't be surprised if the ones not sold through Ringside were a lot better.

I mentioned the Twins I bought through Title earlier - the first pair of 14s weren't from Title. Definitely a different feel.

I hate everlast high performance gloves so much, i'm considering a policy of not sparring anybody wearing them. Their pro line used to be good, though the padding started coming out of the glove on me in less than a couple months. I haven't tried their new, expensive line.

To recap, the best gloves in my rotation:
          Grant Super Bag gloves (velcro)
          IMF Tech Training gloves (velcro)
Top Ten Sparing gloves (velcro, from Totiro-usa.com)

Gloves that I've had good experiences with:
Ringside Ultimate Classic Super Bag gloves
Reyes 14s (just don't spar with 'em unless you want to be KOing your partners)
          Twins 14s

My shopping list of stuff I want to try out:
          Rajah
King (traditional and/or the new "air" design)
          Winning
          authentic Windy (not through ringside)
          authentic Reyes (not through ringside)
          Thai Smai
The new high-end everlast line (kinda)
          Good post.

I have no idea why people praise the Title Gel bag gloves. They are the worst pair of bag gloves I have ever tried. I have used them about 4 times. I only use them as a back up pair if my IMF's are still soaking wet the next day.

Thin padding, poor wrist support, don't open up enough to get your hand in easily with anything remotely approaching proper wrapping.

It would be nice if they made the IMF bag gloves in lace up form, but they are still a great bag glove and they don't cost a fortune.

Mine are finally starting to ware out after god knows how many thousand rounds on the bag. The gloves are still perfectly usable, but the padding is starting to break down in the knuckles.

Very durable glove, well made, well padded, only glove to get if you are on a budget.

I hate the Protex 2 gloves, haven't touched 3 yet. But I recommend everything else is recommending. Also, what I find helps great, if your on a budget, buy some crappy $30 Everlast aerobics gloves and some of the Everlast gel handwraps, I find the combination very very good for wrist support, just the downside is Everlast Neverlasts.

If anyone in the New York area is looking for some good gloves. You can check out G&S Sporting goods. They are an old time maker of gloves. They don't hand make them anymore, but they still have the store on the lower east side making everything you need for boxing and you wont be paying the ridiculous prices. It's like their prices are still stuck in the 70's. Last time I was there I picked up some 16 oz lace up Mexican type gloves. I was surprised that they even carried this style as I thought they only carried the more traditional style.

Anywhoo, here is their website if you wanna pay for shipping.

As for the quality in their gloves, I've used their loaner 14 oiz western gloves every time I've trained at Mendez. Don't let the price fool you. They have quality stuff. The 16 ouncer Mexican types I got from them has a real tight glove compartment that I like (5'4" 126 lbs.). I wanted to get the regular ones but found the compartment was too large.

why would you get the winning bag gloves, just get the pro gloves. You are making a dumb decision. Everyone just uses the winning pro gloves on the bags anyway. watch a training video or something.
