I saw someone post that its all good till you spar. I completely agree with that. I had been training for about four months before I was thrown in there for a real sparring session with a pro, just turned pro, fighter. Needless to say he didnt sit me on my ass, but I had a shiner for about 2 weeks that completely covered my left eye and sore ribs. Sparring is nothing but a gage to let u know where u r and where u r not. You ll know whether you ll really want to pursue this after you ve had that first real battle in that ring. Good luck, I hope you stick with it Spacey.

Was really good... I liked it!

Does anyone else go boxing, and for how long? Also how did you find your first time training?

Whenever you find something new it always seems to be very exciting. However, the excitement runs aground once you find out about never ending grind and repetition of training. How you do the same thing over and over again and your trainer is telling you that you're still doing it wrong. And when you're sparring you get hit so easily, your face is swollen, your head is spinning, and the guy in front of you just stands there and laughs. When reality sets in and once the excitement wears off all you will have left is the fight that is inside of you. That's what keeps a man in the sport of boxing.

Thanks guys, I understand your points... I will know whether or not I want to carry on if I get to the sparring stage. I enjoyed my first session and I have to admit I realized I am unfit... so I am going to get myself in good shape, and keep going once/twice a week... and see if I keep enjoying it. I love boxing though so I think I will stick with it for a bit longer... I can't tell the future but I will keep at it.

As I carry on I will keep building myself up, getting fitter, better... and maybe even enjoy it more, I am just going to keep going and see what happens and basically take one step at a time. I aint an idiot anyway I don't do drugs or anything so you know...

I go college full time too, so I am kinda going to use boxing along with running and exercising as a hobby... I am unsure where I want to get yet, I will take one step at a time... I am thinking about maybe boxing amatuerly if I can, but like I said I am not going to speak to soon, and I am going to wait and see what happens.
