  • what is the proper technique when using the double jab?

hey i'm having problems with the double jab. my single jabs are ok, but when i start doubling them up it feels slow and awkward. my coach says, im "knockin on the door," as he puts it because i'm not completely bringin my hand back and i'm just flickin my punches. my forearm also goes parallel to the ground sometimes...

so what is the proper technique when throwin the double jab? is there more to the footwork besides the basic stuff?

videos would help out a lot

    thanks

doubling the jab gave me hell too. just keep working on it and ask your coach for real specific advice. also, watch other fighters in your gym.

ya same here, my dobule jab was so slow when i first learned it. same exact problem.
it went away after time, now i throw triple jabs, and can throw 6-7 if i must. just keep woprkin on it shadowboxing and on the bag

Only bring the second jab back halfway before throwing it again

That's the problem his coach is telling him he has when he says he's "knocking on the door"

Just work on bringing it back so it touches your face and throw it again. It should come with practice, practice, practice.

Try stepping into your opponent and to your left on the second jab. I wouldn't do that too often though...

I'm not exactly sure about this so the other guys correct me if am wrong...

To my knowledge you should throw the first jab, and bring it half way back. Then when you throw the second jab, step in a little so it's stiff. That what you're not just pitty-patting with that second jab. I think that makes sense but I'm not exactly sure if that's proper technique.

its simple... throw your one jab... take it back then throw a second jab as fast as u can... easy... learnt it first day... maybe its easier for the lighter weights. Even if your second jab is a pitty patty, its STILL A SCORING POINT.

Here's some examples of fighters doubling up on the JAB! Training and fighting
Ike Quartey had a great Jab

Ronald ''Winky'' Wright is also a great double jabber!

Lots more, but just a few examples of some fighters exacutting the ''double jab''

Here's a picture of the great Larry Holmes landing his legendary Jab.
