  • Best way to cut weight

Hey. I started boxing about a year and a half ago, and have been training really hard for golden gloves this march. I weigh 178 right now, but would like to try to cut down to fight in the 165 class. I am in college, and quit drinking, and have been running about 3 miles a day, and hitting bags at my gym for about an hour to an hour and a half 4 days a week. I havent changed my eating habits, but i havent really lost any weight. is 13lbs too much to ask for over the remaining 8 weeks or so? any tips on cutting that weight?
    thanks.

look if you are training hard and eating well, and weigh 178 from doing all that cutting 13 lbs would not be healthy at all

stay at 178, its probably your healthiest fighting weight, as long as you are training hard and eating well when you weigh that cutting isnt necessary

Run 5 miles a few days and do HIIT. Train very hard. Eat less. And the weight will drop soon.

even thought this guy is a wankster.....he might be right.....5 miles is too much...do wind sprints 3-4x per week.

If you change you eating habits (assuming that they're piss-poor as it stands), dropping that much weight by sticking to your training schedule is not asking a lot in my opinion - at all.

            Good luck.

what sort of condition are you in? whats your BMI? have you eer calculated your body fat?

maybe you're not going to be able to cut down from 178 if you're in good nick already.

you will need to change you're eating habits as well, trust me thats the hardest thing but probably also the most benficial.

i havent caculated my BMI, im in decent shape but not great. im about 6'1". i feel that losing 8 or 9 lbs would be pretty easy but 13-14 may be pushing it. my eating habits arent great, but not terrible. i dont drink soda, and i dont really eat like obviously unhealthy tuff, like cookies and chips, but i still eat alot of bread. sandwiches and cereal and pasta and chicken and eggs are pretty much the basics of my diet. i wouldnt say im really skinny but im slim. is there an easy way to calculate bmi or body fat at home?
