  • does this piss anyone else off?

That just about anybody can join professional boxing.
I started training with the vision that a professional boxer is someone who has fought many times and is full of endurance strength and experience. And that one day maybe even I can acheive the goal of becoming a professional boxer through years of training. After seeing threads of bums who never even fought or trained before signing up to become pro and seeing that joke charlie zelenoff fight. I felt insulted that I am in a sport where a boxer like that can even be called a professional. Thank god though I live in montreal we don't have to many of those kinds of pro's. But I recently saw this fat ass pro heavyweight spar against a pro lightweight. He was getting his ass rocked back and forward he looked like he was about to get knocked out. and I was thinking to myself how the **** is this fatass gonna survive professional heeavyweight.
I think everybody who wants to become pro should have at least 20 AM wins.
Cuz I find it's embarassing to see pro's like those that could be beaten by AM's.
I think one should earn the name professional what do you guys think?

P.S why does the U.S have so many of those ****ty pro's is it easier to get a pro license in U.S than in Canada

nah, it does'nt really, dunno what your problem is
just cuz someone is a pro does'nt make him out to be a superhuman, just a man that wants to get paid for doing what he loves

It's easier to get a pro licence then it is an amateur card. And yes,imo for the most part it is a joke. I can see in some circumstances where age is a factor how it would make sense for a person, or maybe they are exceptional and so on (but usually are just delusional) . Mostly though...it is people just too damn lazy to put the required work and time in to learn the sport properly. People will always look for a short cut.

my problem is I want to earn the name of professional boxer when I truly worked hard and trained for it. But with these bums thhey make the name of professional boxer mean absolutely nothing. Because there ain't nothing professional about them except the fact that they get paid.

In the UK (as far as i am aware) the BBBOC have to watch you spar with either an am or a pro of their choosing and if you can box safely and defend yourself and have a reasonable level of skill then they will let you have a license.
I dont see anything wrong with someone who does not want to go AM, fighting professional straight away... its the living they chose and something they enjoy. you must be jealous.

you shouldn't worry about them and worry about you....hell even if you do do good in Ametuer's you can still suck as a pro...

No why should it piss me off? If i wanted a boxing career, i need to build up a decent looking record first...

It doesn't piss me off because it is a completely false allegation!!! Anyone may be able to become a clubfighter to get extra cash for the mortgae but in truth that only makes them semi pro. To become a full time professional boxer is actually and indeed very hard. I once even sparred with a commonwealth champion who had a day job as a gym instructor. Even many half decent boxers have day jobs and you have to be at least European class to make decent money so you can train all day. There are many domestic class champions who never make enough to train and box full time. It is same in any sport. Some average guy who is fit may be a part time footballer but the full time players are always **** hot compared to the average Joey off the street
