I have two pairs of gloves.

One 14 oz for bag work, mitts, shadowboxing whatever....

And i have a 16 oz "laces" gloves soley for sparring. That helps the wear and tear a little bit.

It is better to use proper boxing gloves than them cheap and thin bag gloves. i don't even know why they were invented, lol. If you train hard with them you will lose skin.

I used to train with little bag gloves. Those are cheap as hell, i literally went through a pair every month or 2. The leather would burn and my knuckle would pierce through the padding after a while, and i was using hand wraps.

Now i use some real bag gloves, 14 oz and there are great, offer more protection and they are way more endurant. No more cheap mitts for me. If you have any kind of power you should get some good gloves to protect your hand, hitting the bag without gloves isn't a good idea unless the bags are soft and mushy like a pillow.

The bags at the gym and the one i have here at home are pretty hard and compact. Here i have a 250 pounds custom made bag and at the gym i use the 200 pounds one, no way i'm hitting those without proper protection.
