At first I thought it would get better, then I went to the hospital, had a few scans and everything... I simply couldn't run or anything at the time. The scans showed there was nothing wrong with my knee and the doctor recommended I just rest it.

But it never got better, and everytime I told my doc he'd just refer me back to the hospital and I'd go through the same dumb ass process from scratch. Eventually I paid private and had keyhole surgery on my knee... it took me a long time to save for the operation, as the NHS wouldn't acknowledge I had a problem with my knee. This is why It went on for so long.

Its not my fault, I simply refuse to accept that.

Tha's weird. i had an EU health card when I was studying n England and they hooked me up in 4 months just like everyone else. Waiting list was actually 3.5 months. 2 weeks to see consultant who immediately detected no ligament and I told him I box, so he said go physio but you're going on waiting list. You shoul complain as there wa sno reason to go private. At one point I was gonna file a complaint and said you're making me wait to go back to Marseille for the op (where the hospitals are better!) at which point they sorted me right out. your story is very bizzare as the scan should have shown the problem. Mine was detected on his inspection table? He sat on my foot when my leg was bent and pulled on bck of my calves, then booked me in for op. 6 months later I had fully recovered (I got huge footy hamstrings so graft went well) and was back in ring. I think you should complain

lol... it's a long story and yes, very bizzarre - my daughter broke her arm at the shoulder part when she was about one years old, the same hospital scanned her and said she'd just bruised it. We took her back a few hours later as she was crying non stop, another doctor knew straight away that she'd broken it.

I felt like turning into a wrecking machine and smashing up the first doctor she saw, but where would that of got me. You can't fight a system that is run by a mafia style government...

The NHS would close down if everyone were to take legal action against it... it's just accepted that its a bad public service, but people hope they'll be ok. The Doctors are just designed to get you in and out ASAP, they'll phob you off with 'try this for six weeks and come back if it doesn't work'... £50 later and your still in the same boat but out of pocket.

Anyway, I'm gonna end this thread now before I get myself into trouble or get the rep of being a complete moaner.

I ran for the first time at 5am this morning, did eight miles - I only normally do four... to be honest I could have kept going as I wasn't out of breath, but my legs were starting to hurt a little. I planned the route in the car a few days earlier, so I know the complete round trip is eight miles exactly. It's great running at this time in the morning, the air quality is so much better, can't believe I'd never considered this before.

So what sort of distance and how often should I run for a 4x2min round fight, especially considering I also do gym work and boxing twice a week?

One more question, I work in an office... smack **** in the middle of a ******ed town, that thinks it's a city... the staff canteen only serves up Crispy Chicken, chips or burgers. What sort of snacks or other food should I eat at work, it's so difficult as people are always bringing in cakes or chocolates celebrating birthdays and stuff. Is there a quick snaky fix or recommended food I can sink my teeth into at work that will keep me full, at the moment I'm always hungry?
