hi guys i'm going to be having my first fight soon this season whenever i can get matched i was just wondering if i should get more rest before the fight.

i usually get 1 or 2 days rest (if i have 1 i take 1 day easy and just do something light or just see how i feel)

my trainer allways tells me that when he was fighting even for england he would only ever train 2 days a week at the boxing club....... obviously he did running in the mornings and **** but he just allways tells me to relax about training

yeah just get some good sparring in and slow it down gradually...train light in the couple days before the fight and nothing at all on the day before...maybe a walk if you need to be active for some reason

You're making it sound like your trainer just doesn't like training. Men who have a lot of talent sometimes pick up this kind of attitude. Rocky Marciano was probably the least talented of heavyweight champions, but there is little doubt he trained the hardest.

Somewhere between over-training and under-training there is room for you to get in boxing shape. This is something you have to discover for yourself. You will know you are in boxing shape when you are tuned in and can fight with maximum concentration. You will also find that you rarely, if ever, feel fatigue. Getting in boxing shape not only tunes up the body, but the mind as well.
