You gotta clean up your technique man. You are charging in swinging and dropping your hands in the process and allowing him to score with pity pat shots.

I want you to focus on slowing down your combinations and focus on what a combination is. A serious of single punches strung together.

For example, a 1-2-3 (Jab-Right-Left Hook) is a Jab, a Right hand Lead, and a Lead left hook strung together back to back.

If you are throwing correctly, you can mix the combo up any way you want without any problems.

A 3-1-2 should flow as well as a 1-2-3, which should flow as well as a 1-3-2 which should flow as a well as a 3-2-1.

That means that after every punch, you reset into your neutral stance before you throw another punch. That way you don't end up with an arm down by your hip waiting to be thrown.

Which is what you are doing. You throw the 1-2-3 and while you are throwing the 2 you got the left hand down waiting to throw the 3.

That left hand should stay plastered to your face until the 2 has returned, you have your balance, and are ready to throw the 3.

If that doesn't make sense, I will make a video to clarify it for you.

Also, what happened to that foot we talked about? You gotta get up on your toes!

I know you can do better than that.

I can tell him what I want him to do because he has asked for my input.

Dude, think you lost fair and square but maybe the 1 min rounds ****ed you up? Also seemed his sit back and wait style, worked better for him against you.

Ok first to people to say I lost.. Thats cool I wanted to have honest input.

Lol but shawn seriously? What are you trying to tell me? If your saying calm down no problem ... thats right I have to calm down...

But shawn your acting like I don't know punches and combinations and so forth... Thats not sparring... I have a huge problem of getting too amped for an actual fight and losing my head...and then trying to knock theirs off. All the other stuff you said doesn't even register with me to be honest. because it had nothing to do with knowledge in this fight...

and We found out he was open class by 8-9 fights... no problem here though because he didn't look open class at all to me that night.

Very even fight, could have gone either way. I think the reason he got it, is that he was thinking a little bit more in there. You looked like you just closed your eyes and started swinging... You could use some work on how to set a guy up for your attacks, feints etc.
Unfortunately that stuff is best done in person (though I'm sure Shawn can make a "great" tutorial video on the subject, lol).

I agree with everybody that the 1 minute rounds are ridiculous.

              Thanks for posting the fight.

I thought the first 2 rounds were close, the last was hard to tell because of the light. He looked like the Cleaner puncher. You through just as many I just think his seemed to land cleaner. Judges will always side toward the boxer who looks good, esp when its close.

Work on looking cleaner and you will go far
Well done again keep up the good work.

Windmilling shots is not the proper way to box and should not be viewed as throwing combinations. When you learn how to establish your jab, wild swinging opponents like him can be put under control. This video reveals that you still have not learned how to anticipate your opponents' next move. You need to do more defensive drills.

I know it has nothing to do with actual knowledge. You know what you are doing, but you need to work enough so that when you get in the heat of the moment you don't lose your head.

As Cus D`Amato once said. You have to do it so many times that you couldn't do it wrong if you tried.

We know you are in better condition that everyone you fight. We know you are stronger than everyone you fight, but that will only take you so far.

I would like to see you focus a little less on your conditioning, and a little more on simple repetition.

The simple fact is this. If you don't get your head under control in the ring, you are gonna have problems at the higher levels.

I know you can do it, you just need to put in the work. That is all there is too it. Simple boring repetition.

I still want to see you get up on that back toe too.

From my observation. The judges got it right.

lets me start by saying fighting in a 1 minute 3 round match would make most boxers forget technique and just concentrate on just going all out and throwing punches in bunches. that's of course because, since its a short round, every second counts. And to me, i think that's what you did.

Im not saying that thats a bad stragegy. It just makes fighters lose control sometimes because they're concerned about staying agressive rather than setting up punches and countering. Your opponent was a little more controlled. i noticed he kept countering you with the hook everytime you'd come in and it would land most of the time. At 4:18 of the vid, he threw 3 consecutive left hooks than landed flush.

1st and 2nd round were close but i still gave it to the other guy. round 3, i would say you got the better of the exchanges (6:02 and so on, you got him good).

my advice is to log in more sparring. Sparring, wherein both you guys are fighting as if it were an actual competition, meaning you expect that the other person is gonna try to knock you out. I watched some of your training vids and i know you got the technique and the boxing intelligence. But you gotta learn how to contol yourself under the pressures of an actual competition. you'll get that through experience when u create that situation. Practice setting up punches and what someone mentioned earlier said, practice feinting 2.

                    thats my two cents.

                    btw,
i see you got the potential to be great one day, just continue to improve in all aspects of your game and never be fazed even if you might lose.

                    good luck man.

Hmmm... Found out he is an open class fighter... Doesn't change the fight though..I'm close to being open class anyway.. but it makes me understand why he was calmer than me, Even after I would bomb him.

Nov 15th is not far away at all... I will be training to show the experience improved and work on controlling myself and not losing my head...

I'm going to try so hard to do what most have you been saying about being calm to prove I can get better. Hopefully Nov 15th I will.
