It's not like you're legally or financially bound to fight that night, or that it was even a major tournament. Work harder in the gym and these sort of things don't effect you nearly as much. A cold ain't **** to the guy that consistently runs and trains effectively.

You didn't read the part where he said he was battling an illness for over a year? That hardly sounds like a cold to me. Just saying.

Anyway, nice pics. Get 'em next time.

That's why I said, if your sick for a year, I don't know what kind of sickness the dude has, don't fight until your 100%. Why do something your not gonna get paid for and ruin your record?

Perhaps because I have a love for the sport? Perhaps because losing has no impact on your future in the amateurs? Perhaps because I love pushing myself to the limits? Perhaps because life is about overcoming adversity?

Bottom line, I fought when I knew I shouldn't fight; I fought when everyone told me I shouldn't fight; I fought when I knew I would lose, and I'd do it all again tomorrow.

        I don't regret fighting, I don't regret losing, and I don't regret trying.

I had the heart and courage to step through those ropes, into the ring with someone that wanted to tear my head off, and I did it while I was sick.

        What have you done?

Good fighters enter the ring with the intention of winning, that's all I know.

As for my track record, I'm 18, have a very good winning record, and have sparred with highly ranked amateurs and established professionals, nonetheless I've received world class training. If you would like to go further into detail with that, send me a private message.

If you know you gave it your all, nobody, not me, no one can say anything. Congratulations on your hard fought fight, good luck in the future.

What I got from that is that you don't have the balls to take a fight you know you can't win.

could you explain that train of thought?

                  No problem.

He said good fighters go into fights with the intention of winning, then, he attempted to establish that he is a good fighter.

If he is only willing to go into fights with the intention of winning, it is safe to assume he doesn't have the balls to go into a fight that he knows he will lose.

With that aside, I don't think he is actually a fighter.

Cong**** on giving it your all Shawn and making it to the final bell. I had a chance to box once when I was in the Army, but we only had one for each weight class, and there were no super or juniors. I was weighing about 185 in great shape and a friend of mine wanted to box 175, no way I had time to make 160 and didn't want to lose that much muscle. My buddy destroyed his guy in about 30 seconds and gave me the impression that I would've lost a box off with him. Anyway I still regret not trying, and if I wasn't 250 miles from the nearest boxing gym right now, I'd give it a shot.

I look at an amateur record as the same as committing crimes as a minor. Once you turn pro/18, that stuff doesn't matter any more. And even as a pro, sht Hopkins lost his first fight. Best of luck in your next fight and I hope you get healthier.

your record has absolutely no bearing on anything in the amateurs. you should work hard and try to win every fight, but in the end it's about gaining experience and/or having fun.
