  • Loosing your tummy.... stop the protien?

know its been asked plenty of times before but got another questions in here for ya too...

im 5.10 140 at 22yrs old (was realll skinny as a kid and still am compared to most ppl my age) anywho....

currently taking iso pure protien shake (dont have time to cook good meals, or the money for it) also taking size on by gaspari which is doing wonders for my endurance and power in boxing.

however im wanting to loose the fat thats on me at the mo... (not much but its enough to have an excuse to get it off me)

i eat fairly healthy, only treating myself every 1/2 days but nothing excessive. taking in about 1200 cal a day (minus shake)

what would you guys recommend i do?

stop the protien shakes for a while till teh fats off or? keep on it and jsut run my ass harder each day?

im not doing boxing to be the best or even fight, purely doing it as i sit at an office 8 hours a day everyday and drive my lazy ass everywhere, so am purly in it to be healthier. so you can save the "stop whining pretty boy its about fighting" comments :P cos yea i am here to look and feel good ^^

so yea.. any tips on getting the fat off? ... will i loose much muscle or so long as im active it should pretty much stay right? lol

i really need to do some research on this and figured the advice here has been sound so far so would start here.

also what kinda cal intake should i be on to loose weight without much muscle loss or gettin myself ill over it.

    Cheers

1200 kcal is to low, if you stop taking the protein shakes you will lose muscle mass

Why would you want to stop taking protein thats ridiculous. Protein is needed to sustain muscles. IMO 140 at 5 ft 10 is way to skinny man, if i were you i would lift and try to gain at least 10 pounds of muscle by the end of the year. (Which is possible since it will be newb gain) then cut a little.

you are obviously a hard gainer. lift heavy. increase your protien intake, up the number of meals you eat to 6. add some cardio 3 days a week to burn the belly fat off. be careful of the carbs you coose to eat, try to stick to green,& dark colored veggies. stay away from the white stuff, bread, potatoes, rice.

How can you have bellyfat at 140 and 5'10"? Seriously. I have very little bellyfat at 165 and 5'9". Post a pic. Crop your head if you like.

IMO you're insane to be worried about bodyfat at 140 and 5'10". And at 22, if you're training for boxing, you're seriously nuts to be only taking in 1200 calories.

If I had your build I'd sleep more -- like 9-10 hours a day -- trade one day of boxing for one day of weightlifting, and increase my protein to about 1g per lb. of bodyweight. And an oz. of water per 2 lbs. of weight, per day. That's half a gallon, son.

At my fighting weight -- 164 -- I take in 3,000 -3,500 calories per day on training days and 2,000-2,500 on rest days, and I maintain my weight. And I'm 15 years older than you; my metabolism is WAY slower.

            Eat. Rest. Train. Repeat.

That's the regimend that i've been following, and so far so good. Im 29, and was 190lbs at only 5'7. Always had a big upper body due to benching, shoulder and Bicep workouts, but was never able to lose the gut. About 6months ago, i started eating 5-6 smaller meals a day, rather than 2-3 large meals. Did strength training 3-4x a week, and hit the elliptical machine for 30 mins after each workout. Cut down on rice, potatoes, and especially SODA! Incorporated lots of greens, grilled chicken, and fruits into my diet. Since then i have lost 15lbs of fat.

I think someone just want a six pack, I'm 49 I have a four pack can't seem to get the lower abs to show. six packs come from the kitchen not the gym. you really need to cut out the empty carbs and replace them with veggies
