Well I know its an unusual thread title but heres my story, it happened today:
Near the end of the gym session, the trainer instructed everyone to put headgear on. He then instructed, in the ring, you got 20 seconds to score a point by a jab, the jab can ONLY land at the top of your forehead. I was up soon enough, against a person who just started boxing. I went up, trying to fool him with my footwork, he seemed nervous, he threw a flurry of jabs, and I just blocked (totally forgetting to use head movement/parry). I then went to jab him, the jab landed square on his chin, it hit him back but what? I lost, the guy landed a shot on my forehead! I didn't even feel the thing! I got a fight up soon, and if I can't use head movement, parrys and more footwork, what am I gonna do? I guess I learn't a lesson, always think through what your gonna do in the ring, even with such short notice, think everything... footwork, moves and what you gonna do. Nobody laughed, my friends felt kinda sorry for me. This has just determined me to try harder, and prove my doubters wrong that I can achieve a career in boxing.
Second story happened today:
We all weighed ourselfs, and the trainer said "Wow, you might get a free walkover". I said to him "I'd really prefer to fight.." and he said, "Well, i'll try and get a fight with someone heavier or lighter than you". Feels like hes trying to make me as thin as possible just so the gym can win by a w/o! I don't wanna train hard just to win by a pathetic result, reminds me of Alex Arthur being GIVEN his world title, rather than fighting for it. (lost 0.6 kg in 2 days). Hes consistent of me becoming a bantam weight. I thought I was 60kg, but really I was 57kg all the time.
Sorry guys if my storys are ******, but I felt like I need to talk to someone rather than gloating to my mates about what happened.
