  • My first fight (full video

Acually second. My first one was an exhibition. So this was my first real fight. I started very slow and throughout couldnt get the power I wanted on my shots. But I did find a way to win which is what matters.

Please take a look and tell me what you think. Any advnice of anything. BTW I am the one in the red corner with a blue shirt.

you put in a good performance, one you can be proud of. i'dlike to see you throw your jab more and either:

    1. not try to walk down your opponent so much, maybe try to feint a little more upstairs then dig to the body,

2.or use more lateral movent, and by that i mean taking more steps around your opponent trying to corner him instead of walking him down.

but you did a great job in their.

You did pretty solid for your first fight. You should work on your speed and strength. I want to see those punches flying off like pistons. You were backing the other guy up for most of the fight. If you can increase your volume of punches you would break him down and place lots of pressure on him. Good job keeping your hands up but put some movement behind that, learn how to box a little you know. Try to work on your coordination and agility. But over all pretty good performance for the first fight.

Congratulations, you got a good base to work off here. Your defense was great, the opponent wasnt scoring only hitting your gloves. As you advance work on a bit more head movement and slipping not just glove blocking.

You footwork is a little sloppy at times you are walking in, keep the space between your feet, change direction more dont just move to one way. Practice your footwork, just movement around the ring without throwing punches in training.

You got some good counters in and were winning comfortably at the range you were at without having to rush in. When you knock someone down like that DONT put your arms in the air, the judges dont like this and other forms of ****iness in the amateurs in a close fight it can be given to the opponent if you do stuff like this.

        Keep it up.

cong**** on the win, but there's some basics you should really work on. like the other guys said, work on your handspeed. when your throwing your punches you leave them out there for a moment... as soon as you hit your target or fully extended, bring it immediately back to your jaw or head. when you throw your straight left, you tend to drop your right hand. keep your right hand close to your jaw or you could get caught. your hooks looked a lil wild...keep them short and let your pivot from your feet to your shoulders do all the work. that's where all the power comes from, so you don't need to swing so much with your arms when your using the hook. and finally when your stalking or chasing don't lead forward with your chin up... you could get off balance or even catch a hook.

good job though, can't wait to see the next one

you sound exacally like my trainer, lol.

Thank you all for your support and feedback. Speed is the main thing I need to work on. The power is there but for whatever reason wasnt there on fight night so I had to focus on keeping my hands up. The best feeling was the decision, getting your hands raised makes it all worth it. Especially becuase the kid I was fighting was hyped a LOT by his trainer and was 2-0 going in.

I had an exhibition in June and have improver ten fold since then.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j20Vg_ZD-rI

                  Well done,
That was a top first effort, i agree with the other comments that have been posted. Work on those things and you will get better.
Also try and cut the ring off next time he was backing up allot, try cutting him off to a corner and back him up using a jab and then go to work.

good stuff man.. instead of just standing there with your hands up blocking when he throws a combo try to time his shots and counter.. a good way to start work on this is in sparring try to catch the jab (with your left hand since your a southpaw) which means just kinda catch the jab with your glove out in front of your face and time your opponent and either throw a right hand over the top.. and slip inside and let go with some body shots to the middle of the stomach chest area
